Anyone else shocked that they are doing this?

I mean its going to be 700ish hp in an extremely capable truck. Its going to have to cost at or near 100k. RIDICULOUS!

They should come with MAGA hats

I would prefer it if it were a Raptor Bronco with this engine.

Bronco frame will be on the ranger and will be too small to fit it

Why don't they just build a luxury trophy truck straight from the factory? That would be a lot more impressive imo. I think a lot of people would go for that than send a perfectly good truck to a builder to get chopped up over a long period of time without financing option available...

I'm not interested in that. I'm talking about a FULL size Bronco as they were in 1996. A small Bronco is not desirable.

While I constantly see the newer EcoBoost raptors, I’ve heard from a few sources people keep asking for the V8. And now that Dodge is taking about offering the Hellcat powered truck it’s only natural for Ford to swing back.

Ford people tend to keep their trucks way past warranty and the Ecoboost has to work very hard in these trucks. When they need maintenance, it is time consuming and expensive to work on them. The 5.0 and 6.2 do not have to work as hard and do not have two turbos , the heat and plumbing to deal with. I bought a 2011 King Ranch with the 5.0 on purpose.
Most shops are $100+ plus per labor hour , plus parts. You want something easier and faster to work on either to tinker yourself or have the vehicle down time be way less.

Always liked the Raptor, would never buy one with the EcoBoost.

I agree I loved that truck. Currently building a 1979 Bronco and putting a coyote in it and a full king ranch interior. Should be neat.

Unfortunately ford has filled "that slot" with the expedition

Want to see pics of your project.

The Expedition is 4 door. A bronco would be 2 door.

Of course it is a 2 door vs a 4 door thing. There just isn't any room for fullsize 2 doors in the market. Id love one. but i understand the position.

Well... right now its in a million pieces the body came off the frame this week and the body is headed over to get soda blasted as is the frame.

Automotive news gossip sites and a word-of-mouth from a friend is not the same as confirmation from Ford.

I absolutely hope your are right, that it comes to fruition. Definitely would be bad ass and blow anything from the competition out of the water.

I’m just saying it’s not official yet, once Ford announces it, then I’ll believe it. I’ll even give you credit, that you “called it” .

Again, I hope it does happen.

Anyone at Ford saying it's *confirmed* is blowing smoke.

you are right about that we buy ford F150 trucks and keep them till around 300000 miles with the 5.0 the truck holds up well.. one our trucks is a King Ranch with 165000 miles or so still looks new.. and drives like it the 5.0 is a great engine the eco boost v6 would not have held up like these

Anyone have any data to back that up or is this just conjecture? I didn't think there were reliability concerns with the ecoboost.

the limited experience I would have is that people I know that have high mileage (over 125k) trucks with he eco boost v6
have told me they think the v8 would have been a better choice for our heavy use.. maybe not the same for personal only use...

I haven’t seen many major failures, but there are more items to repair. See more oil/coolant leaks. More driveability issues as well with higher mileage trucks. Just from the added complexity of the engine.
