    Another common 355 problem fix.
Ferrari 355 'F1' Gear Display with Missing Pixels. Just filmed my fix

Ive posted this on the Technical Forum but thought it would be handy on the 355/348 model specific thread also.

    Hope it helps

And now for the pedants and obsessive types....

Step 1: Make sure all your dash warning lights are working (They are a lot easier to relamp when the binnacle has been completely removed). Also see last step.

Most of the lights that need to be operating during startup can be seen in the Scott's video. Variations possible with 2.7 and 5.2 cars, F1, USA/Euro, etc... You may have to start the car to see the whole range.

Step 2: Put towels on top of steering column and dash area to prevent metal and sharp hard plastic parts damaging leather and softer plastic.
Step 3: If you have light coloured leather, wrap your screwdriver in tape to prevent marking.
Step 4: Throw away large gauge solder and use only your fine gauge solder
    ...
Be aware that the instrument connectors (flat/film type) can put up a fight. Be firm, but gentle.
    .....
Sometimes braid (desolder wick) is easier to use than a solder sucker for removing solder.

    ...
Get the orientation of the digital display correct!
    ....
Clean tape type connectors as applicable (e.g. using Deoxit)
    ...
If you are a new owner, make sure the dodgy previous owner hasn't rewired the binnacle to illuminate the CEL during start, but not if there is an actual fault.
    ....
Rewrap wiring with Tesa cloth tape in dash area (as applicable)
Spend half an hour trying to reinsert the instrument binnacle screws. Gets easier with practise.

I fixed mine but I did send it out to be repaired via Ricambi America. Figured for as fiddly it is I can let someone else do the soldering.
