We used to purchase Halon 1211 (the good stuff!) from H3aviation in California -- it's not OEM/concours correct, but it is probably one of the best fire suppression chemicals available.

I got really lucky on eBay for CS hardware. They pop up once in while. You have to check often.

For less than $100 you get an automatic system by BlazeCut I believe.

You can mount it ever how you like, this was my way. Piece of mind that as soon as there is fire it's put out. I ran very hot, hot days at the track with no problem.

I was at Silicon Valley Ferrari today and asked them where I could recharge mine (2008 F430) and they said you can't and gave me a price of $600 US for a replacement. I went to Home Depot and got a Kidde 4 pound ABC that is the same diameter as the Ferrari as a bandaid solution until I find someone who will recharge the original.

I wouldn't bother...just more weight...and if the car catches fire, do you really want to try and save it? The only reason I have one is to help another motorist...

The only reason to use your Ferrari 430 extinguisher, if your car catches fire....... Is to beat up a guy that shows up with another fire extinguisher, to try to put your fire out . . You don't want to try to sell a Ferrari thats been fire repaired....

Found a guy who was willing to recharge my F430 extinguisher. As I noted in an earlier post, I called around and no one wanted to deal with an Italian extinguisher. Ferrari's advice was to buy a replacement at $600!! Called David at Bubba's Fire Extinguisher Co in San Mateo, CA and he sees non-business accounts at his house after 4. It took him less than 15 minutes to check it, replace a fitting, powder and recharge. Cost $10! So I will keep the Home Depot clone in the car and the original in a safe place until I sell it. Regardless, I have no desire to use either. That's why we have insurance.
