Well no turning back now! Fuel distributor and WUR at Flowtech, new AC compressor from RetroAir coming next week, decided to fix the dash and some suspect wiring while I'm waiting. Can't wait to get it back together! Have a weekend with the Mrs planned in a month and this will be our transportation.

Been wanting to tackle these issue for over a year now. So now onto a real question : does anyone have switch parts? Need the copper triangle and springs for my fog light switches. Ultimate goal is to fix the blower motor ticking and give it a bit more voltage if needed. Lots of hacks have been under the dash it looks like. Cheap crimp jobs, scotch locks, some remnants of a security system etc. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Holy crap! The inside of those switches, they have their own motherboards.

How hard was it to get the dash off?

Sorta of promised it as the car of choice, but I'm a mechanic by trade, so I think I can get it all together in time. The dash removal wasn't bad really. Did it a bit differently than I had read about. It was harder to remove the dash from my 924 than this honestly. The switches are pretty nuts inside I agree ! Hoping to locate some to parts out or replace for a reasonable price. Since I'm 6'3", I am looking for a way to clock the dash pod up a bit so I can see all the lights etc. Anyone ever tried it ?

I am tinkering with the idea of having all the black vinyl replaced with black leather but I’d have take out the dash, thanks for the info.

That's true. I have done very very little international purchasing. If I cant find anything locally, I'll take the plunge. These switches are few and far between.

Excellent work so far. Nice to see clear shots underneath the dash. I suspect that one day you will be the guy to install the twin-turbo kit, so I can see how that works out. hehe

Touched up inside of the dash pod, (leather cover was removed, so the plastic rubber shell is all that's left), painted the pedal box area as I had to remove the old carpet a while ago due to its condition and it gives me a touch more pedal throw. And lastly here's the plugs you have to access under the pod to remove the dash. Easiest to take the driver seat out and lay on your back. There is one plug on top of the AC controls, (open switch) and one under the glove box, (glove box power). Put the dash in last night as everything checked out heater box wise. This alcantra style fabric I found at a local sewing shop. Only thing that looked good. Nothing tan they had than was even close. Never done upholstery in my life so we'll see how long it lasts!
