430 Valve Cover Gasket Replacement Cost

    Took my 2008 F430 in for the annual and mechanic noted a very light leak on each rear left of both valve covers. I let it go because I can drive 100 miles and I'll see maybe a drop or two. The Mechanic told me the repair was an all day job which in this area is around $220-240 US an hour at most of the shops. It does look like a lot of labor. I note there are additives that can stop leaks like Bar's Leak Seal Repair but is that advisable?

    I wouldn't use any stop leaks additives to your car,ether deal with a small leak or fix it.Those products cause me harm then good.

    Did you ask if they were torqued to spec? Also, it is advisable to change the cam seals as well when doing the VC seals, so that is where the majority of labor goes. At least with regards to the 360.

    I could be wrong, but I don't think the 430 has separate cam seals like the 360...but in the 360, the cam seals are right there in the open, why would the majority of labor be there?

    Definitely a big job. Mine were leaking/weeping and I had the dealer put new gaskets on. IIRC it was $1900, all but $200 was labor

    I know my Indy only charged for 5 hours of labor for mine and the labor rate was about half what you posted.

    Thanks all for the tips. Yeah, will stay away from additives. It is a coupe and I will figure 2 grand. Will do it with next oil change but watch it til then. I always pop the engine bay up to help cool it down so easy enough to check. Bolts are tight to spec.

    Its a common issue for F430's...............

    Mine was replaced by previous owner 4 years ago and he paid $2K.
    4 years later (2 months ago) it's seeping again...............

    Im not aware of any better aftermarket gasket seller.

    There's a post here somewhere that another member recommended adding a gasket sealant.

    I plan to do replacement myself sometime later this year.
    Same as yours, very minor leak.

    Just watch out for the minor oil leaking out as it can get into the Variator Solenoid Control Valve connectors.
    When that happens the variators will send a faulty reading to the ECU and a check engine light will pop up with a fault code P0024

    It is actually the variator solenoid valves themselves that leak. The oil is pumped out up through the wiring of a defective solenoid and into the connectors, were it leaks out externally and causes poor electrical connections/faults.
