Value levels have dramatically changed on our cars over the past few years. So I’m curious what do you think the market is on the following? 365 400 5-speed 400 auto 400i auto 400i 5-speed 412
Dave, long time no hear! I hope all is well with you and your 2018 vintage is aging well. Clearly the numbers coming from Europe appear to be about double what I have seen in US. Without being model specific I have seen US sales about $35K and Euro sales in the Euro 60K. I'm sure others will have more data. The crazy thing is that 308's and 328's have nearly tripled in the US! Even Mondial's have doubled. Testarossa's where always way high so they are only up 30-50%. Ken
Hiya Ken, I've been around, just been doing a lot of lurking rather than posting. It seems like prices for the 365/400/412 in Europe have launched through the stratosphere. They're up here in the states but not quite as much. I'm half heartedly trying to get a value on my car. The last couple of sticks that have come up look to be approaching 6 figures. Thoughts?
Check the prices for RM’s Essen auction today a 5-speed 400 and 5-speed 412 sold at prices I consider disappointing. If I recall the hammer prices were mid$50s so with commission low $60s
Hammer price app I thought showed the price in dollars, but I could be wrong. 412 only had 30k miles and looked pretty nice to me.
Good day Dave, There is no question that asking prices in Europe are a lot more than on this side of the Pond. That being said, are the vehicles selling at this prices? I am not so sure, as many are still advertised for sale after numerous months. Did they sell and the seller did not remove their ad? Maybe, but it is an indicator. The factor is condition, and this is tough to determine without actually seeing the car and/or having it inspected. That being said there is a recent car for sale on our side that looks to be a nice car with an asking price of $89500 USD. Here is the thread on the car that was recently posted: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/55421-very-last-400i-built-for-sale-in-ca.597661/ http://www.fantasyjunction.com/cars/2192-Ferrari-400GT i 5-Speed-4.8 Liter V12 A desirable 5 speed no less. It looks to have not been on the market long... perhaps 10 days and so it is too early to say if it is priced accordingly. it may be worth watching this one to see if and when it sells, as it might serve as a data point for what looks to be a nice car. As for 365 GT4 2+2's... not that many come up for sale and so it is hard to know a price point. Gullwing had the red one that was tired and needed work and it sold relatively quick. They have a blue one listed on Ebay (https://www.ebay.com/itm/1975-Ferrari-365-GT4/273317160128?hash=item3fa2f8e4c0:g:fvUAAOSwB6Zcpk6y&LH_ItemCondition=3000|2500) for about a year now at just under $90K and looks like no takers. It is possible that the car has needs or who is selling it, etc which may explain why it sits. One would think given the Euro prices and apparent greater interest that someone would have bought it and shipped it over there... There was another car that was on Ebay that looked nice, but I cannot find it. I will search my records to see if I can find the link and see if it was sold. There was another car that was recently discussed here: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/1983-5-speed-chassis-47367-for-sale-on-bat.596530/ and it was a no sale on at at $48K. Some mentioned that they thought that the dealer wanted $65K. and another with an asking $55K https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/ferrari/400i/2188853.html Cheers, Sam
Good factual post Sam. Yeah, that’s what I was thinking ($85-$95k) for a 5-speed. Still considering letting mine have a new home.
Good day Dave, You are most welcome. Interestingly, a 412 5 Speed just sold in Europe for about $65K USD: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/1989-ferrari-412i-chassis-82116.593698/ Cheers, Sam
Not a nice car, I saw it in Essen. https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/fl19/fort-lauderdale/lots/r0059-1986-ferrari-412/733373 sold for $82.500 (automatic). https://mo-vendi.de/en/cars/702-ferrari-400-i/ sold for 80.000€
Real world result: just got $42K for my 84 400i I'd call a "well sorted driver" w/ 98 KMs (not miles). Given what these cars cost to bring up to spec, I'm maybe $4K under water after buying the car 4 years ago for $14K (ha ha ha) but had needs. So the car cost me $1K a year before gas and cheap classic insurance to own and drive.
I just love these cars. I wish I didn't listen to all my Ferarri friends 10-years ago to not buy a 365/400 when they were $10k to 15K!!
