With everything that's gone on since the beginning it's amazing they've made it this far.

Wow, that's a real shame if it is true.

I'm not too familiar with Hennessey or their products(except for the Venom GT) but I caught a replay of John Hennessey on Leno's Garage a couple of nights ago. They were featuring Hennessey's Mustang tuner products - 750 HP, 207 MPH conversion kit - and John seemed like a cool guy...

This should be a heyday for high-end autos...no?

There have been forum posts and articles in various magazines going back to the 90s (I am sure there was a feature on this sort of malfeasance in Car and Driver over a decade ago but a quick Google couldnt find it) about these sorts of issues. Always seemed to me that this was a business run by a car guy that badly needed a business manager to run operations and let the car guy do the cars.

Sounds like either poor management or the high-end performance market is starting to soften.

Yup - basically, Hennessey was a crook and con man, I have less than zero respect, and wouldn't touch a Hennessey product if you paid me.

From 2002, Autoweek ran a feature story about the con jobs Hennessey was pulling then - Viper specialist John Hennessey is up to his cylinder heads in problems | Autoweek

Here's the text of that article:
Here's Taig Stewart's Hennessey story, posted on a Corvette forum in that same period where people were complaining about problems with Hennessey:

Here's a thread from a Chrysler 300c forum in 2006 where Hennessey himself shows up to start a thread to trash talk one of his customers: Efool Gets Punked On His Own Board - Chrysler 300C Forum: 300C & SRT8 Forums

Car and Driver did do a piece about Hennessey on the earlier issues I quoted above; it baffles me how they can turn around and write glowing fluff promo pieces about his latest hack jobs (Lotus Elise stretched for a V8) without ever mentioning the controversies about his "business practices".

Long trail, has been quieter lately. Used to swap parts around on customer cars, other nonsense. Great salesman, has always used boards and net to his advantage since old Viper days when he got hammered.

These clowns always remind me of a "tuner Ponzi scheme", where later customers pay for the front end. So many of these over the years.

Pull their stuff and watch the IP addys.

He's been a well known fraud for many years, which has driven many people crazy with how much positive attention he's been given over the past few years.

Funny, he used to attend the church where I work as a musician, seemed like a real nice, honest fellow... Lesson here to be learned, never judge a book by its cover works both ways!

Company is garbage, owner is clearly a scumbag.

It takes two second to Google the company and see that on every high-end exotic board, he's called a crook and his company garbage. If you still spend money with him, you're an idiot and it's on you.

Have a buddy wanting to send his Trackhawk to Hennessey and I warned him about their shop based on reading this thread a few years ago. Any updates/changes in opinions? Seems most on here are not fans...at all, yet he's still in business churning out some pretty wild cars/trucks.

They have been doing a bunch and some cool stuff on the surface, who knows what's underneath or beyond the marketing.

For someone that has some much bad said about them their shop has expanded and so has his product lines. I have to believe that not everything he has done is bad. How else would he partner with some of the big manufacturers the way he does?

There is a link on Fchat here to a you tube of a Hennessey F12 creation. Looked interesting but all I could think about was this thread from years ago, I thought the shop would have closed by now. There was also a Trackhawk Hennessy video. Didn't seem like there was a problem, vids were cool to watch and seemingly honest.
