Ditto on the carbs. Especially in the earlier part of the day. If I have too much sugar & carbs in the AM and early PM, I get lethargic. Can't focus. Work piles up. Cuts into Ferrari fun time. ☹️

I made some low carb granola last week. Cup of almond flour, protein powder (vanilla), ground up toasted pecans, good cocoa powder, good cinnamon, a little Splenda, & pat of butter (melted) and an egg white to bind it together. Bake at 425 F for about 20 - 25 min. Crumble it up as it cooks. Great with a cup of Siggis. Or my new favorite, Oikos triple zero. The official yogurt of Dak!

Today I was craving s salad (a rare occurrence) and went to CPK for their Italian Chopped Salad. Pretty darn good, if not really healthy.

Tried a new Vietnamese restaurant I saw today. When I saw the size of the sandwich I was excited. It was a disappointment. I can't complain about the amount of meat, but it was just not flavorful. So were the egg rolls. Just missed that bahn mi favor. I'll still to Thu Thu Sandwich.

Mint Indian again. This had to be one of the best plates of food in my life. Amazing flavors.

(Apologies for the family guy reference above, but it was the word that came to mind as I prepared to dig in!)

We went today, and you are right, amazing food! (the server said "our enchiladas are the best I've ever had", I laughed and said "that's what we heard and that's why we are here!"

    Great, great place. We will go back and try all the tacos next time. Today we had 1 each of the 4 enchiladas;

    - Wild mushroom with ancho mole cream (the best of the bunch, really fantastic)
    - Beef Birria (close runner-up finish. Very flavorful)
    - Achiote-braised Chicken (not bad)
    - Beef Barbacoa (menu shows pork, but the server said they did beef today. Not bad)

Plus chips, salsa and top-level guacamole. Very strong margaritas too...

Thanks for telling us about this place!

Yes! I ate at Cocina Madrigal on a business trip in mid-Dec. I would third the recommendation. The mushroom enchilada was fantastic and something you just don’t see anywhere else. I was craving a frozen margarita, and those didn’t disappoint either. Incredibly friendly and inviting place.

Glad you enjoyed! My co-worker had the tacos and said they were great, had some crispy (like flash-fried) jalapenos which looked great.

Not real appealing looking but it'll hit the spot.

Some bannock with polenta and greens, sauerkraut with a drink called gut shot on it. Thatks a cabbage, beet, and ginger probiotic drink I take. Sardines with lemon juice and mustard.

Went to a couple of local "festivals" this weekend. Saturday was a Persian one and we had the kebab and stew with pita. Sunday was an Aloha Festival that was great and had a lot of Hawaiian BBQ...but the lines for those were huge, so we went to the Korean BBQ booth for Bibimbap. The Persian plate was "meh" or "meh minus". The Bibimbap was good (some bulgogi in the middle was good).

    “Meh minus” Persian food:

You win some, you lose some...

Tried a new Pakastani/Indian place that we saw on DDD. This place sucked. Getting there sucked. Parking there sucked. The restaurant sucked in every possible way. The Chicken Tandori was "okay" as was the naan, but the rest was very sub-par and wrecked our tummies. Lesson learned.

Next up, to get the taste of the crappy prior day's lunch out of our mouths, we returned to our favorite Dim Sum place. Was good as always.

Today was Carolina's (with my nephew visiting, a mexican dive seemed appropriate). Potato/Chorizo Burrito and crispy beef taco were excellent as usual.

I always get jalapenos and any hamburger when I can. I could actually eat jalapenos on most everything.

My eating out will be limited the next couple weeks, I've gone out way too much the past couple of weeks. I believe I ate out almost every day this week.

I've been trying to figure out if the "suburban" ones are related to the original on Mohave street. Turns out they are, but I *think* they are now separate. They seem to have separate websites.

    The "chain" looking ones:
    https://www.carolinasmexicanfood.com/

    The "original" sketchy one:
    http://carolinasmex.com/

Which one did you go to?

I've only been to the "original" Mohave street one with the badly faded sign/wall outside and the so-dirty-you-don't-want-to-touch anything vibe.
