Today I spend lot of time to open thermostat housing. It was tight so I took it out right away. Image Unavailable, Please Login That black stuff is factory rust protection. To unbolt I had to use gas burner and all kind of mirracle oil, Even used cordles power tool to get that little movement, warning to all; thermostat housing corrodes tight. After hours of try I did manage to get them seperated, toughest one is to remove housing from cooling pipe. Heat is what did the trick. Image Unavailable, Please Login It is sealed only by thermostat seal. Original thermostats are plastic, they can get stuck and I had feeling one side might not close correctly. Lamborghini Diablo Intake before TDC 27 decree After BDC 73 decree Exhaust before BDC 70 decree After TDC 10 decree Compared to Testarossa: Intake before TDC 16 decree After BDC 48 decree Exhaust before BDC 54 decree After TDC 10 decree
thank you very much mikael so the valve opening times at the lamborghini are much more than the testarossa. I wonder why the lamborghini then has a really low idle rpm and running very smooth with such long opening times? you know perhaps the wight from the flywheel? I´m not very familiar with countach, only had 1 customer anbd he already sold this car, but I always have been surprised how smooth the countach engine in very low idle was running, a carb version
Well they did not come out, exhaust valves came out with that lever -style tool, but intake side I could not make enaugh force to brake valve spring locks out. So I made this very simple and effective tool. Much more solid and cheaper from those purpouse made valve compression tools. Image Unavailable, Please Login It still needs little tap to brake contact. Tool got kind of spring tension when you tighten clamp, so little tap with hammer and valve lock opens. I got all kind of valve compression tools, but this is my favorite. Image Unavailable, Please Login Valves and springs, with rest of valve mechanism. Image Unavailable, Please Login
