AM enters the exotic mid-engine game. They look pretty awesome. v6 or maybe v6 hybrid. Undetermined still. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I will say this, for the first time since Honda NSX ate the 348, Ferrari's bread and butter car will truly be challenged. The hybrid V6 coming next will have a really tough time versus this car. I think it is drool worthy gorgeous!
Not my cup of tea, but a nice, clean design with not too many fiddly bits - better looking than Ferrari / McLaren / Lamborghini offerings.
The Vanquish Vision is in my opinion the best looking car at Geneva. For $350k I’d put in an order tomorrow. There isn’t a bad line. The curves are spot on and the cockpit slopes far more beautifully than both the Valkyrie and 003 which seem too bubbly to my eye. Now it’s just on Aston to incorporate side view mirrors, a rear window without losing the beauty. Rhe power train/transmission must also be there to be competitive in the market. The performance needs to be on par with a F8/720S to really make a splash.
I always wondered how Aston Martin persuaded Chris Goodwin to leave McLaren and now I know... if these things drive as good as they look this will be the first car that could make me leave the Mac tent. Legitimately stunned at how great this is.
AM is crushing everyonw else including Ferrari in the design department. After years and years of their cars being updates of the DB7 design, thy now have a very pretty, very unique design language across the model range. Fantastic.
I like the design very much, but I don't think they're crushing it. Yes, it is something new, something different, something attractive, but definetly not above all the rest. Works better for the Valkyrie, the 003 and Vanquish could be better, both in the front and back. The lines and side and 3/4 views on the Vanquish are sexy as hell.
From the Carfection video the AM guy was saying '21-'22, so not toooo long... I just hope the real thing doesn't deviate from this concept.
Crazy thing about this concept is I actually think it would look better with side view mirrors instead of cameras. I really hope the performance is there to match these looks. If it delivers current 720S performance or slightly below even it will be a huge victory.
What I find interesting is that AM has developed its own V6 Turbo engine with hybridisation for the mid engine platform. Given that Mercedes is a technical partner and provides engines for the current range, why did they not go for a slightly detuned AMG One engine? It is currently the best engine in F1 although Ferrari might be at par now. A part of me thinks the "All New" Aston Engine might be sharing technical details/architecture with the Mercedes one. Aston cars for the past twenty years have always been prettier when compared to Ferrari and Porsche but lacking in the engine and drivetrain department. If they can sort the engine and gearbox (not as much of a factor anymore given most manufacturers now have dual clutch boxes which are within +-5% of each other) out then they have a real winner on their hands.
After 20 years of DB7 clones, I love that Aston Martin is doing new things. The DB11 is technologically a bit outdated but looks fresh, the Valkyrie is the most radical road car in years and this thing looks very promising. Maybe they´ll flop, but at least they´re trying.
When I first saw this I was floored. Absolutely stellar design! Classic lines with modern curves. If they price this right ($250-300k), they have my $ Sent from my 16M
Gotta disagree with daMayor as in metal, the design is very well balanced. (Makes me think if they drop the pronounced lip of the Vantage front it might actually help!) It is artful as there isn’t a spare line at all. Looks like an inspired version of the Valkyrie design model. Very cool. With an up to date set of internal instrumentation it could be very desirable. Tho it is their first mid engine, non supercar. I’m encouraged but 2 more years to intro is a long time. Best case. Agree. But like so many concepts we will See if it makes it and what it actually looks like. Still its a step in the right direction. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
