Does anyone have a good idea on how to hang heavier torque wrenches in vertical position in the garage? I have too many of them and they need to be easily accessed or I will never use them. Horizontal positions may work too.

Make a peg board with cheap sockets attached. Plug the wrench into the socket.

I used to have a lot of torque wrenches too. For a few years all I did was build motors and was in search of torque wrench nirvana. I finally figured out most were just gimmicks and often (even big deal name brands) were not very reliable. I have settled on just a few Precision Instruments wrenches with overlapping ranges from inch pounds to over 1000 ft pounds. They work, they always work they do not use batteries and they do not lose calibration due to the design.

Ha ha, great idea with the cheap sockets !!!

I don't buy gimmicks anymore. I don't buy electronic wrenches either. The batteries die or their power module die and I end up with large useless ratchets. I am going to send that wrench back to Gearwrench and tell them to throw the engineer over the side of the Golden Gate bridge. I will include a googlemap link if they can't find it on their own.

Although, I have to say the new Gearwrench 120XP torque wrenches with 3 degree swings is really sexy.

Flaw with the design is it has a preload spring and is under tension. It will lose calibration. I have also had the calibration adjustment screw come loose and lose position. The Precision Instruments split beam wrenches move a fulcrum to change settings and can be left at any setting forever.

I have a couple of twist to set Snap-on wrenches and store them horizontally. I always reset them to nearly zero after each use. I am doing the right thing?

Cut some plastic water drain tube of an appropriate size then cable tie (TyRap) or glue, (etc), these to the vertical surface.

They arent that delicate. If they are the click type just back off the tension to the lowest setting before storage. If you want to hang them, hang them up. Dont drop them. All will be fine.

The one on the left is a type I had a few of and was unable to keep in calibration and were off being repaired so often. They are very popular though. The one on the right is a Precision Instruments made split beam type and is made with a lot of different companies names on them. I have a few.

I have three of those Snap on Precision Instrument ones covering 10-250 ft-lbs. Like them.
I have a number of the click types too. I just measure them against an electronic torque meter when I need to know their accuracy.
I just got to use my 600 lbs torque wrench for the first time last week. An axle nut on a Porsche 996 had to be torqued to 345 ft-lbs. Damn. Sheared off the puny Sears screwdriver I used to wedge the rotor and I had to go to a larger screw driver. I wonder if Sears will give me a new one?

I did that too, but I found it easier to wedge a screwdriver in the disc brake

No ceramic rotors on a 996. But yours maybe different. If I had to do that, I would put the wheel on and torque it on the ground through the center.
