Had enchiladas at a place called Cocina Madrigal like a mile and a half from my office. Yelp 5-star rated (407 reviews - it's 4.8 on Google with 314 reviews) Mexican joint in the ghetto. Best enchiladas I've ever had. The beans on the side were also super flavorful, and the rice was okay but could've been better. Definitely will be going back. The service was incredible.
The Filling Station. Pics aren’t much but it was super. Wife got the chicken burrito and I got the chorizo burrito, double shot, and ginger ale for each of us. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Today’s lunch is at the Arizona Polish Festival...very good Polish food being served here (Ash, consider it tomorrow!). Pirogies, potato pancakes, bigos (a “stew” of cabbage and sausage), stuffed cabbage, grilled sausage. Polish beer! Image Unavailable, Please Login
I dunno what the opposite of a bedtime story is, but that is worth telling in the A.M.. I think I've also mentioned how in my Los Feliz, CA Apt. Life - I would occassionally get waved over to neighbor's patio [I think her maiden name was Roundinrightplacian] for Armenian Coffee & homemade Paklava [Baklava with touch of Cinnamon & Cloves]. In Tejas, they usually have chips and salsa at your table within minutes, unless you think Taco Bell is Tex Mex. I cannot remember the name of the place. Somewhere in the Bay Area, I think. Purported to be a Tex Mex joint. We sit down. No chips and salsa. Hmm. We wait. Finally, wife asks. Waitress says..."We don't do that here." WTF?!? T
And, how did the resident Polish food expert grade it? Come on, be honest. Not as good as grandma's, was it? T
We both actually were very impressed. The food was all "homemade" by the Parish members of the host Church. Both of us agreed that the food was better than any restaurant I've eaten at in Poland, and (to your point) the only better Pirogi's we have had are Ania's mother's!

I was born and raised in Vancouver, but did my "higher" education in Toronto. My girlfriend there is Portuguese. She lived near Little Portugal in downtown Toronto. What I miss there is Portuguese foods...……….. Today, I get to drive my dad to the airport. Usually Id stop at my favorite Japanese restaurant in Richmond. But had sashimi for dinner last night. So plan is to stop in Surrey, bad area for a dive diner that serves excellent food. This place: http://www.fresgorestaurant.com/about-us/ I'll probably have the clubhouse.
Oh, cool! Large Portuguese community near where I hail from & "their" wedding receptions during fem's '80s pantsuit era were loads o' fun - even got to have some fish soup on a Friday with locals in "their"-only clubhouse watching World Cup action. Finally get to have some linguica today, as our Safeway finally started carrying it again. Eventually, really looking forward to making some Calo Verde, which looks beyond enticing. Within minutes? Try less than a minute. Unless you go to some place with terrible service. I wouldn't expect anything else in smug California.
My version of protein bars. Oatmeal, flax seed meal, vanilla protein powder, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, almonds, walnuts, shredded coconut, chocolate chips, honey, vegetable oil, Greek yogurt, peanut butter, and maybe other stuff I can’t remember. No measuring just add enough of each. I call it sweet feed. One batch came out dry and tough to eat and reminded me of sweat feed for horses back on the farm. Yes... we used to grab and handful and chew it up. Big pieces of corn, grains, molasses, etc. Now it’s all pellets like rabbit food. Yumbo. Your homemade protein bars look great. Chicken treats for the fur children? Princess approves! T
Looks like chicken breast baked in an oven. I boil Costco chicken breast tenderloins for our dog, then reduce the boiling liquid to moisten her kibble. Because that's the level of spoiling our Princess expects! Image Unavailable, Please Login T
We get the big boneless chicken breast packs at Wegman’s - slice then bake. 5-6 breast per pack. Ever since the melamine scare with dog food we try and be careful what we feed. Good dog food, treats, and these chicken treats.
