Bidding is at 700K Then “soft close”

We officially passed the rational scope of this car’s value back at 627

Even Rawlings is not goin to keep bidding at this price, wont make sense for another tv show circus anymore. He is smarter than that.

Mr Pocket Book can keep it.

I never believed the story GMG shared about costs, the story about Dennis buying Richard out, never believed the BJ auction was on the up and up (suspect Reggie's payment was offset by producers), and I don't believe there are really this many people bidding $700k now. I do believe GMG and the show are playing games with bidding and will end up with the car because it's going to make more news and PR. But it isn't Rawlings' money at play... not that he's "smarter" because I don't think he is, but because the producers can afford to game this for more press. Outside of ulterior motives, anyone who'd pay $760k for this car is brain damaged and needs to see a whole team of doctors.

Funny quote by Collins that the car “held its value”. I read that as ‘we shilled it up so it appears GMG cars are quality/investments and now we’re going to do a few episodes and sell some posters’. 760k. Hilarious!

I think I posted the car would go in the 7's.

The car regardless, has now taken on legendary status. The new owner will definatly be the center of attention at any car show he chooses to take it.

The car sold for what it was worth on that day. No need to judge. It is what it is. Some people don't care a lick about originality, or give a damn about Ferrari haratige. They like the car, they like GMG, they like it's a very well known car, and the story behined it, so they bought it.

If I had the means, I would have bought it, just because it is such a thorn in the side to the Ferrari community..

Why? It's still an F40. How many of the mega buck race Ferraris are as they left the factory? People have no problem spending millions on a car that was brought back to life after a serious crash at Lemans or whatever. The F40 will be one of those cars. This one has a tail to tell, and it's a fully documented tail. I think in 10 years time, it will add value and the car will take on a life of it's own.

...then the press talked a lot about "the tub" as if it was a CF capsule, when its a tube frame not much more complicated that my GTB.

But this car needed to see the Factory, or its a dangerous machine. IMO

Appearance withstanding I would want it on frame jigs with LOTs of measurements, none of which GMG did as they "Moved some brackets a few inches"??
I did not watch the show.....

what if GMG bought it to put it back to 100% stock for their show, that would make some good TV! (wishful thinking)

You seem to have a vendetta about this car and the show in general. I saw this car twice, and although some of the mods are subjective, the paint quality was excellent and fit/fitment was spot on. I am in no way invested in the show but have met both Richard and Dennis a number of times (and not just a meet and greet either), and Richard's persona on show is completely different from in person. If you don't like the car, that is fine but to speculate (lie) about the loss Reggie took on the car (not $300K or even close), and other fallacies it is all in a negative vein. Like him or not, the man went from a net worth of less than a million when the show started to now over $15 million through inventive branding, sponsorship, and flashy showmanship. Also, food for thought...several cars have made magazine covers on several hotrod and classic car magazines which isn't because of fame but because of build, paint, and interior quality. Yes, the shop isn't a Ferrari specialist but they aren't an Earl Scheib either.

I think it is a fair value / good buy at $760k. In 5 years it will be worth much more.

No vendetta. Just personal observations of the show and the car itself. I really don't see what the fluff you posted about Richard's claimed finances have to do with the car or outcome of this car. I've seen the GMG F40 in person and I observed the paint had shrunk around panel edges and it was dry in spots particularly on vertical panels. Hardly "excellent" work as you describe. The gaps were also not uniform from one side to the other nor were they consistent to numerous other F40's I've seen/driven. Perhaps subjective but I don't believe anything about the repair work was "spot on" as you describe, and since several other members have seen the car in person and reported similar and other defects it strikes me as odd that you're the only one thus far who has posted praise for either the paint or workmanship of the repairs. If you want to be starry eyed about the personalities and GMG so be it, but let's not pretend this is a high quality repair job.
