Followed a great part of the Artcurial Auction of today. Well, a considerable part of the F-market is clearly imploding... Sad to see a 512BBi go at 230.000 € and a 512BB (carb) for even less, at 220.000 €, for instance.
So what happened at RM with some of those cars, including the modern one-off, that were hammered sold and are now still for sale? Was the assistant banging that hammer drunk?
Well, at least for the BBi (according to Hammerprice), it hammered at mid-estimate, so the result was not unexpected. I don’t know about the market in general, as I have only been tracking Daytonas and Boxers, but from the buyer’s sided, I think BBi prices have been at the quarter-mega-buck level for a while now. Sellers don’t want to let them go for that, but if the car is going to move, looking for a lot more is going to take a while... So I don’t think these results constitute an “implosion”... Or at least not a new one...
I have checked today but no results. Here some Instagram pictures from Artcurial concerning the sales. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

So about $18MM USD after commission. Even assuming you were going to spend money repainting the car, that sure seems like a bargain to me.
