He said I might laugh! Then he said he has had great success with O’reilly batteries.

He also talked about the issue of batteries sitting and having internal unseen issues.

Anyhow, I checked online and when I enter the Testarossa O’Reilly does not show any compatible batteries. Not sure if this is due to rarity or incomplete data or what. I do see some for my 68 Charger.

Anyone else ever used a premium O’Reilly battery?

Went to Autozone site to see what Duralast and Optimim batteries and it also doesn’t even list Ferrari. So I guess I just have to pick the 48 or 34 class and buy one.

When they tested battery it’s 100% good. I guess the issue was how long it may have been sitting for a while and just now being exercised.

The stock TR battery is a smallish Group 47-like (I believe they were trying to keep the weight down). Most of us use the larger Group 34R (Group 34 works too, but this requires running the battery cables over the top of the battery). Batteries are like oil filters -- there's only a few manufacturers, but a lot of different labels (OReilly doesn't make batteries). I wouldn't be worried about using a higher-end Group 34R from OReilly - JMO.

Like Steve said. 2 or 3 companies are making all the batteries in this country. Get one of the higher end and shop for price, not the label.

Even the Walmart everstart batteries are great. Never had a problem.

    Any car battery w
Any battery will do the job imo.

But remember, it is a European car …. so maybe you can get a Bosch battery or any EU brand for the same price ?

How about the sealed gel batteries? Those corrosive fumes can’t be good. Lightweight Lithium?

Surely we have better technology available these days than the TR OEM 30+ year old wet cell.

There's nothing to fear with a modern wet cell battery in good condition.

I found auto parts stores do NOT list parts for what they call "Exotics" I run an AGM for my car as it's in a box in the boot of the car. It has a vent tube that goes out and under the car and that's all you need. The battery is the same you get anywhere you don't need an "Exotic" battery for an "Exotic" car. It goes by group size as stated. Make sure if your car sits you have a battery tender. I got 4-1/2 years out of my last battery in my Lotus and yes when I took it in it tested good but they test right off a charger. A battery needs to sit for a while before testing, it will fool you at times if you test right off the charger or after driving to an auto parts store.
