(but it's not that big of a deal) is: The beeping when "start" is engaged. You get to hear it twice. WTF? Questions: 1. How do I disable? (really annoying in public) 2. What is the most problematic aspect of your 488? Besides this, my car is perfect.
2. Knowing that with each and every mile it becomes less valuable and attractive to the next buyer with so many barely used ones to choose from - all from owners too terrified to use the car in fear of being stranded in the same boat.
Yes, go into settings in the display and adjust the volume as you please. What I find more annoying - and also encountered this in my GT3 (which also insisted that the AC be on) is the radio turning itself (and Sirius) on each time the car is started, and then engaging music from my phone after Bluetoothing. There is a way around this, but you lose a few display items on your right screen that should always be there.
Drive the car and enjoy it. Most everything including cars depreciates. You didn’t buy a LE or a classic. It’s just a car. Drive the snot out of it and your experiences will be worth way more than the depreciation.
This IS what I actually do and, I am evidently one of very few who are actually prepared for the consequence of doing so going by what I see on 488's for sale. The point I was making is how so many don't - which is reflected on the majority of odometers of 488's up for sale. The end result of course being that the very few cars with any form of respectable mileage vs time of ownership become harder to shift - forgetting about whatever price has to be taken at one point. And then that situation becomes perpetuated by the most second and third buyers - evidenced once again by the odometer readings vs age of the car /time of ownership - buyers who again continue to demonstrate the same fear in using their beloved car.
Yes what a lovely thought to share, but how many "really do" is the big question. Not many - going by the odos on 99.999% of the cars up for sale answers that question! So, talk of use with little regard for depreciation is clearly very cheap one could fairly conclude.
Having to bite my tongue and endue the negativity of those that simply can't accept the fact that forced induction was a HUGE improvement in performance (along with a vast array of other evolutionary improvements).
It's actually more of a misconception that people are afraid to drive them. Rich people have lots of cars and less need for commuting/driving. How many miles do you really expect a Ferrari to get if there are 3, 4, maybe even 5 other cars that also get used? Got kids? Even less usage now. Some members on here have even more than that.
You are referring to a minority owner situation vs the majority situation supported by hard evidence on the odos of Ferrari's up for sale. Even myself with 5 vehicles at my disposal is able to generate a 6000km per annum min usage on each of my sports cars. If you look at the mileage on Porsches vs Ferraris it's clear which is the more "precious"and depreciation is no doubt a big part of that equation. Yep talk is very cheap when it comes down to use of a Ferrari - no question there (lol)!
I drive both my 488 and FF to enjoy... I love driving each one of them ... that’s why I bought such amazing cars .... to drive and enjoy... will do the same w my 812 once I get it ..... keep driving and keep enjoying these amazing cars Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If you live long enough and are fortunate enough to own a Ferrari, most will realize all we have is time and we should have as much fun as we can and driving 488 spider is the most fun I’ve had in many decades of life, and I as well need to remind myself from time to time that worrying about mileage and depreciation is not having fun!
The analogy is the guy who goes to a gentleman’s club, complains about the $10 dollar cover, but leaves drunk and $300 poorer,
I put 1500 miles on my 488 in the first year — and that’s because I drove it as much as I could. I can’t drive it to work for image reasons, but I try to take it out every weekend for long drives on the backroads. Does that make it a garage queen? I get a ton of enjoyment out of it and don’t try to conserve it at all, including letting friends drive it all the time, but there’s not really a way for me to put more miles on it a year.
Back on topic: stupid location of horn buttons. Love driving it! Drove it yesterday between rain storms.
