I bought quite the mess. I still have to fix the engine mounts, the backlight, the paint, the dash, clean out the headlights, and various other things. Despite all of that, things still broke even though I prayed to the entropy gods. Now I sacrifice animals to the great horse in the sky. I started out with large rodents like woodchucks and squirrels, but am all the way up to an aardvark now.

I’m on my car for about four years. When I bought it I did a major service to bring the car to zero. My Bella is a 2005 F430 Spider, red tan. The car was in very nice shape past the PPI but had high mileage. I intentionally bought a car with high mileage as I knew I was going to drive it and would rather someone else pay the depreciation. Since my ownership I have had to do a good bit of repairs but the majority of these repairs stemmed from one issue. There is truly a domino effect when it comes to these cars and probably any car for that matter it’s just more costly with a Ferrari.

The following is a list of things that were fixed in my opinion it’s due to a throw out bearing and not being changed when the clutch was changed just prior to my ownership. (Major dealer did this clutch work and I have documents, no way throw out bearing was changed, original was in tact and jammed which caused below. (Took a year of issues to show the main issue)

    New f1 hose
    New pump
    Rebuild of f1 solenoid pack
New clutch (old one had 83% life before it fried)
    E gear solenoid
    New hill throw out bearing

    Not related to clutch issue

    Front main seal
Rear main seal with clutch change
Top hydro hose replace (again issue, some where along the line heat sheilds were removed)
    2 top rams rebuilt
    2 coils
    Paint correction (quartz protect)
    Top elastics
    Top cable repair
    One exhaust tail pipe replaced
Top speed headers installed (ceramic coated)
4 oil changes, 2 full fluid changes

    Initial purchase
    Full service
    Spark plugs
    Valve cover seals
    Sticky buttons
    2 tires

Basically the car has had all systems sorted and is in beautiful condition. Just won Platino at palm beach chapter 1st annual Concourso With 98.5 points. Anyone reading this don’t get scared off as if you do not have the money or passion for these cars it’s not smart to own one. I have had a ton of non Ferrari sports cars and would complain about little repairs but with this car these expenses have never phased me.... hard to explain. I will most likely keep this car forever as it is my first Ferrari... I do plan to purchase a another newer one in a few years, but Bella will always be in my garage. She currently has 49600 miles so I do drive! I would never let a car like this sit.

If you have the means I highly recommend picking one up. Lol.

I have a 2005 430 3 pedal coupe bought new August, 2005. Now has 29K on it. Headers, rear main seal, engine mounts and exhaust brackets were done under warranty. Nothing since then. The CEL sometimes comes on indicating a faulty air pump that pressurizes the fuel system to check for leakage. This is an emissions part that supposedly costs about $600. So far, the light goes out on its own after a while. I used to track it quite a bit so spent a lot on tires and brakes! Still has the original clutch. I'll probably go with aftermarket headers at some point.

I had a 360 3 years ago and got rid of it because of all these comments. Even though I have the means, and passion to own the 360 it got on top of me with the small niggly things.
It did only ever let me down once though. The F1 pump motor. I fixed it myself, then traded it on my current 997.1 Turbo. 3 years cost of ownership? lets not go there lol.
BUT, I am still wanting a 430 F1 this year. Once you have experienced these cars you are doomed. Nothing compares.

Low mileage does equal low maintenance costs!
I have spent $14,000 in maintenance during the first two years.
List of things pretty long. Nothing huge but a lot of irritating small parts failures that
    really shouldn't happen.
Now I am faced with ball joints and bushings, new aftermarket headers because the OEM
header's reputation creates too much anxiety to ignore.
    That will be another $7,000.
These cars are not cheap to run and I am not convinced that they are totally worth it.
If I were to try and sell this car right now with 16,000 miles on it I will probably lose over $40,000 in two years of ownership.
Then I get in the damn thing, floor the accelerator, laugh out loud and say to myself, "who cares how much
    it is currently worth!!!!!".

    2004 360 Spider F1 - 26000 kms and 5 years of ownership (now 39000 kms on odometer)

Nothing to fix during this period except a 2€ drill to fix a minor issue with a top cable and an undertray part (screw issue which didn’t resist to high speed on Italian highway).
And standard maintenance every year (distribution belt 2 years ago).
Hoping the next 5 years will be the same! :)

In my 7th year of ownership. Apart from a strict and regimental maintenance schedule I had to replace the following:
    > Clutch & TOB
    > Driver's side rad Fan
    > Stick gear bushing (replaced with Hill's version)
    > Leaking hydraulic fluid block (replaced with Hill's version)

Other than that it is as reliable as my old Porsche.
