Does anyone know where to get the clamps for the rubber pipes for the MAF to throttle bodies. And the tool used to crimp them. Image Unavailable, Please Login

The one's on your MAF' can be removed and reused if your patient with a small screw driver flik the tab up (in red) and the clamp will pop off with bit of levering then re shape the head of the clamp (in yellow) with shaft of a small screw driver then with a larger one, then refit the clamp it may need wee bit more spreading with the screw driver till it fits. Then hit it with this baby toolmart should have it. If your not adventurous try Zagame melb barbagallo's should be open thurs. Failing that Ricambi or Euro spares.

How would it look after reusing. Worried about deforming the crimp.

They are called Oetiker clamps. Ricambi has them for a couple of bucks (part #177981), but you may be able to find them locally.

For crimping, you can use a dedicated Oetiker clamp tool, or regular end nipper pliers.

Why would you want to use (or re-use) those ugly clamps? Just buy some stainless steel hose clamps and install with adjustment screw out of sight. Note the different look here with old and new.

THIS. I did the same thing. You can find 9mm German clamps that work great and look a ton better. Just turn the screw so it's underneath and it really cleans up the engine bay.

Do you happen to have a link for the exact fitting stainless steel clamp to use as replacements?

I count 6 total clamps, 2 for the upper intake plenum, and 4 for either side of the accordion boots.

    Thanks if you can help!

    Cheers,

    Scott

I would also be curious as to exactly where to find these clamps - including sizes - as they look much better.

Thank you. I was more looking for the size, I'll measure the O.D.

It's been a while...I think I got mine from ebay, As long as they have 9mm bands they should fit cleanly like that. The other ones were bigger and looked bulky if I remember correctly.

Edit: Searched my email, here is the exact ones I bought

@tstuli that is some clamp...I just ordered the OEM clamp from Ricambi, but I'm going to order these too and give them a try, looks like they've got the best of all worlds

I did this as well - and love the clean look now. A minor detail but looks great!

Ugly? Oetiker clamps are far superior to the worm clamps.

I don't like how I used the Ferrari diagram to order replacements but then got sent the wrong sizes. Re-used the existing ones fine and everyone can just use whatever they want, large rubber bands excluded.

@tstuli I ordered them from Aircraft Spruce, using the 178 part number

I received an excellent clamp but it is not spring loaded even though it's the same part num as the one from oetiker's site

Everywhere I saw the spring loaded ones they were only sold in packs of a 100

Can I ask where you were able to order a handful of Spring loaded clamps from?

The good news is the point where you secure them can be at the bottom so they have a nice clean look and their oetiker clamp style

    Hey John.

I ordered them from Aircraft Spruce here. Invoice says :

    #178 100-9 STEPLESS SCREW CLAMP # 178 100-9

I paid $7.78 each and I was able to buy in singles.

I’ll take a photo tomorrow to show you what I got. Perhaps they sent you the wrong part?
