Lawrence, I am not super familiar with a new Ferrari purchase (mine have all been used) but I understand that each dealership has a protected geographic territory. So Ferrari of Alberta would not be allowed to sell a car into British Columbia without the express permission of Ferrari of North America. For that reason alone, the dealership may have dismissed your inquiry.
It's true but the problem is, Ferraris are better than Lamborghinis. If Lawrence doesn't want a gated car, 458 is the obvious next choice. But a gated 430...mmmm.
I have yet to drive a lambo, 458 or gated 430 so the only sensible solution is to test drive them all
Definitely. Plus other options - Italians don't have the monopoly on great cars! (0r Italian-Germans)..
FYI Ferrari of Alberta and the Ferrari dealerships in Ontario belong to the same company. Ferrari Quebec and Ferrari Vancouver are independents. Anyway - maybe give them another shout. Ask them “what if” I just buy it in Alberta and pay cash? Or you can front the money, I will put it in my name, then “sell”it back to you. I get to drive it home though. .... then you come pick it up.
Interesting read @Dr. Lawrence Miller, sounds like quite a harrowing experience. Where do you take your F430 to get serviced now ?
Yes it was a harrowing experience, and one I would not wish on anyone. For my F430 servicing, I go to a local mechanic (Michael) who organized the "Cars and Coffee" weekend outings prior to Covid-19. I think he's a member of FerrariChat and therefore should see this posting.
How have you found the quality of his work, and do you find him to be a fair and honest person to deal with ? If not comfortable posting here, please feel free to PM me. Thanks in advance.
At a general level, the fact that neither Michael nor Hooman crashed my F430 during a tune-up ranks them higher than Ferrari Maserati of Vancouver. However, beyond that observation, I defer to other FerrariChat members who are likely more knowledgeable about local Ferrari mechanics.
The thread that keeps on giving. I would definitely be upset if it was my car as well but this thread was started in 2013 so if you were going to extract any blood guessing it would have happened long ago. For this thread to continue seems kinda... CRAZY TRAIN.
