You d need to convert a 328 to center lock then... have fun!! I guess you're right! Thanks mate for that quick answer... how do you like the look? For me it s awesome since it s almost like the stock but with center lock style... a bit more muscular. On a black car... awesome?!?! Now i just need to find a set!!!
Those probably are Compomotive (or clones). Compomotive were the only guys who made wheels for the last 328s. The Speedlines did not have the edges on the spokes. The big difference is that the 88.5 and 89 cars have the different offset with less depth to the wheel. Like mine... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Close up with the center cap looks like center lock, but just covers the stock 5 bolts Image Unavailable, Please Login
Mule thanks a lot for your picture and confirmation. this is exactly the car i have. Black black 89‘ 328 GTS... this looks freakin awesome with your wheels... can you just give me the dimension and spec that i can be confident whenever i come across a set that those will fit? If you have something like a structural strength certificate from Compomotive would be even more awesome since they re a bit more strict about that in Germany... or does Compomotive still exist and i may ask them directly? Thanks in advance to everybody and enjoy your sunday! Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I don’t like those on the 328. The speedlines look awesome on a 348/355 or Testarossa but unfortunately not on a 328 in my opinion... Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Is somebody running Firestone tires on their Ferrari? Is that normal? God be careful, firestone has killed more people than any other major brand tire! Crap tires!!!
S#it happens. But the major problem was, that they didn't admit their fault but blamed Ford instead. Not very confidence inspiring regarding future product development. Best from Germany Martin
I don't know...they look to me like someone had too much time on their hands and an old Bedazzler laying around... https://www.getbedazzler.com/?mid=1600213
Lol! BTW. Living close-by I'm curious whether your word 'rhinestone' has something to do with our Rhine river here. And why. Best from Germany Martin
Originally, yes - stones collected from your river. But over time it's a general term, describing most often those glittering reproduction stones that cowboys think look good on clothing.
The 88.5 and 89 wheels have different offset for the abs and change in geometry. My Compomotives look like Mules. They get lots of compliments
No REAL cowboy would be caught dead in a shirt with rhinestones! Also, they would NEVER be seen wearing Levi's jeans, only Wranglers (with the "Wranglers" patch on the rear pocket removed before wearing them for the first time).
Sorry i don’t get it 100%. Do you have now both an 88.5 or 89 328 or an earlier model? And are the compomotive for the 88.5 and 89 more common or not available at all? I have an 89 but no ABS. So should the older ones fit as well? Thanks a lot again for your time folks! I need these wheels!!!! Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
My Compomotives are 17x8 and 17x9 with 225/45R17 and 255/45R17 tires. Compomotive does not make these wheels anymore, but they are still a company (https://www.comp.co.uk/). They may still have the specs for the old wheels called TS17. The 1988.5 and 1989 cars that came with the convex wheels need to have aftermarket wheels with the same offset.
The 88.5 and 89 original wheels look like this picture. They are not deep. The wheels changed when the front suspension changed in late 1988. The ABS came along around the same time in the US, but it is the suspension change that affects the wheels. If your car had wheels like this, you need Compomotives that are made for ONLY 1988.5 or 1989 328s (not 308's, not Mondial). If your car serial number is higher than #76626, it should have the newer suspension. I have never seen a set for sale for the 1988.5 and 1989 328. I will sell mine someday, but not soon. Best wishes in the search for the wheels. They are out there! I keep catching myself being a retro-grouch on changes like this. There are a few iconic things about Ferrari that I just love and the factory "throwing star" mag wheels is one of them. Other iconic Ferrari elements are things like the black "billiard ball" shift knob, the chrome shift gate, the Momo steering wheel, etc. Owners of other marques lusted after the Ferrari factory wheel style and the after-market copied them. … The wheels that are in discussion here are pretty sharp looking though.
Try this website. Custom wheels in the true sense of the word.....so you will need to determine the PCD, offsets, backspace and measure the width of the brake callipers (although given how small the brakes are on a 328, probably not necessary). Almost certainly better manufactured than the 'original' Compomotives and cheaper. The first 2 options have billet centres and the third option is cast. http://www.imagewheels.co.uk/billet-11-alloy-wheel/ http://www.imagewheels.co.uk/billet-40-alloy-wheel/ http://www.imagewheels.co.uk/f40-alloy-wheel/
Rennie you're my man!!! I'll definitely check them out in nearer future if no compomotive seem to show up or suit! By the way: Maybe moving to Melbourne in Oct. 2019... I'll definitely have to shout a drink for you in this case ! Meanwhile i'm just texting Compomotive on their opinion concerning installing on of their variants on a later 328 (88.5 and 89) whether they have any case or documentation available. Thanks for all your great support! Regards Carlo
