Apparently a lot.... Now just to get the clock redone as it is unobtanium. Note the little discoloration on the old gauges where the needle used to lie. It doesn't appear so in the photos, but every old gauge is a different color. Speedometer was replaced, so much more orange than the others. Your speedo doesn't quite look like the old one. There were a few different versions of it. The one you have, I think, is from a later 328. Ace
The speedometer was replaced by Ferrari of Denver when I bought the car. I have an 88 pre-abs car w/rear defroster, so I think the new one is right (though unsure).
I understand you want to go back to showroom condition BUT, I actually like the faded ones better. They appear to be easier to read. Sorry.
Not cheap, but actually less than I was quoted to refurbish the old ones. Also, I find I have to buy stuff from the UK because it is significantly cheaper. I ordered 4 rotors and pads from the UK for far less than 2 front rotors in the US. These gauges from the UK in total were just a bit more than just the Speedometer would have been in the US. I'm also redoing the interior this winter. The leather had been dyed at least 1000 times, the pad under the vinyl and carpet was crumbly and the headliner material was natty. In summary, I'll have so much more in the car than it is likely to ever be worth ;-) but it is the only car I've ever owned that I'll just sit and stare at. Regards, Ron MWR4440 - I will admit that they were much more Orange than I had anticipated which is why I posted. If they'll all fade together I'll be happy. The biggest problem I had was that each was a noticeably different shade of yellow.
Great comparison photos. They definitely fade way too much and look "anemic." I think you'll be hard-pressed to "allow" the new ones to fade equally as the sunlight strikes the various guages differently. If I were getting mine re-done I think I would go with white on black. Bet you wouldn't even need some type of instrument lighting upgrade after that and future fading would probably be a non-issue.
Can you guys recommend a company that could restore my gauges to their original orange? Mine are faded in different tones in different places and dont look nice. Thanks RS
Try these guys http://www.paspeedo.com/ They refaced my 308 speedo from 85 to 120. Looks OEM and can't be happier. Others have used them with great success. Not cheep but worth it.
Closer to $300 for the Speedo. Maybe more today. Id just give them a call. Might give you a 'Group Buy' for ALL your guages. Can't hurt to ask.
