I am happy that F1 is going back to a magical place that is known to be the centre of the F1 words for decades...Vietnam
Much better than those old outdated venues like Monza, Silverstone, Spa or the Nürburgring

Didn’t know Vietnam had cars, let alone the infrastructure to run a race..... yet another track I would not consider visiting

    Vietnam now? WTF

I can think of plenty of more deserving places to have a GP than Vietnam that has no motor racing tradition whatsoever.

But what about a Dutch GP, or Portugese GP, or San Marino GP? or a Swedish GP?

And Vietnam has a big F1 fan base, of course, right ?

It will be just another self-promoting exercise by a government that wants its name on the map.

They do that by attracting at huge cost an international event of some sort to get on Western media.

Once they have managed that for a few years, they will do like Turkey, Korea and soon Malaysia and drop off the calendar? Mark my word.

Probably ticket prices will be out of reach for the locals, and the grandstands will stay empty.

40 years ago, a F1 GP could only be held in a country that had a recognised Automobile Club, and on a track that had already hosted an international race, like GT, sports cars, lower formula, etc ... Vietnam has none of that.

Now, the FIA and Liberty have no guidelines to observe. This sport is in the wrong hands, IMO.

It’s not a sport anymore......it’s entertainment, an event where celebrities hang out in Hamilton’s pits to have their face on tv. The behind the scenes soap opera is usually more fascinating than the actual “racing”

To join Vietnam in 2020 The Netherlands?

Vietnam, Netherlands step towards F1 in 2020

    NOVEMBER 2, 2018

Vietnam has taken a big step towards being on the 2020 F1 calendar.

The People's Committee of Hanoi, the capital of the Asian country, has issued an invitation to an event next week to launch the street circuit and race.

It reads: "The city of Hanoi managed to conclude the cooperation to be entitled as the official host of a race of the FIA formula one world championship (from) April 2020."

It is not the only new race that could debut in 2020.

De Telegraaf, a Dutch newspaper, says Liberty Media has made a "concrete offer" for the circuit at Zandvoort to organise a Dutch grand prix.

"If we sign now, the Netherlands will have a grand prix again in 2020," circuit owner Prince Bernhard van Oranje said.

"With Max Verstappen, everyone is well aware that this is a unique opportunity."

The newspaper said Zandvooort would have to pay an annual race fee to Liberty Media of about EUR 20 million.

Brazil has so much to offer on grid girls....we would feast our eyes....pitty.
To me the top race in the world now is 24 hrs of Le Mans....no b.s. just a team, cars and Drivers and driving hard for a long time
Wish Porsche and Ferrari would join with factory cars....

They destroyed that amazing circuit to build the pan-american and Olympic facilities. What a bunch of jerks

Indeed, Rio is much more touristic, but I disagree that Sao Paulo is "a dump". The circuit is located in an ugly suburb but the city offers great restaurants, bars, and clubs where you will see some amazing girls.

There is always plenty of BS around the 24hrs of LeMans. They are constantly messing with BoP for that race to suit a theme or purpose.

Vietnam night have a bigger fan base than you might think. Just look at how many US, UK, and Australian retirees and expats that are calling Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam home these days.

I had unconfimed reports by people who visited South East Asia, that some elderly peadophiles Westerners had settled there.

I hope that's not the sort of fan base Liberty is expecting to support the Vietnam GP.
