Just a reminder... the Americana Manhasset Concours in this Sunday, and for any P-car fans, 'Driven to America' is being held the same day, right down the road at the De Seversky Mansion.

The Americana is probably worth a stop but that 'Driven to America' thing is just going to be a bunch of Porsches.

Heading to Driven 2 America. Americana jumped the shark couple years ago for me.

Yeah, but some you don't see so often. 904, 908, 916s were there last year.

I found Manhasset to be underwhelming, especially considering the weather of the past two years. Lots of empty spaces and seemed like more dealer cars than usual. Still quality metal on display but I feel it was lacking compared to 4-5 years ago.

My personal favorite from the "spectator lot:"

Yes , a shadow of a show compared to 5 years ago. If JG doesn’t show it will collapse. Shame!

There were some sick cars in parking lot

There were definitely more cars in the back with a lot more spectators.

With the exception of one or two cars in these photos, everything else can be seen at any "C&C" gathering. As said by others, this show is well past its "sell by" date. The Americana marketing team should save their money and let this event fade off into the sunset. By contrast, there were many exceedingly rare Porsches at Driven to America. There were even more of the "pedestrian" type Porsches there too but then again it was an event about air cooled Porsches and cars Max Hoffman influenced the manufacturers to build. The venue didn't hurt either.

Many great cars can be seen in this area on any given weekend so you guys have just become too jaded.
Seems like the only cars that get a rise out of you is a "one off".
Take it for what it is and just enjoy it....not many other areas of the country can offer this type of luxury right in your backyard.

I thought it was really going to be a conflict by having both those events the same day and my feeling now is that there were less cars at Americana because of the Porsche event.

The problem with that show is that is seems to attract some real hotheads with abnoxiously loud cars doing hard acceleration on the very crowded road below.
You cant even hear yourself speaking. A real turn off to that show. Never been at a show with so many loud cars going round and round the block for attention.

Last year was my first time and last time at this event even though the venue is 10 minutes from my home. As you said, a bunch of morons were just revving their engines or driving like maniacs in the parking lot. I remember the driver of a maroon Lexus LFA revving his engine non stop. I was hoping the Toyota engine would fall out of the car. It didn't.

Agree with you mgt destroyed a fun event, which at one point was getting some significant cars. Letterman had a beautiful Ferrari SA there a bunch of years back. No more.

You want to see some great stuff head up to New Caanan next Sunday for carburetors and caffeine. They do it right and keep it civil.
