once you get over those goofy "eye socket" headlight/intakes, the 720s is a good looking car. side profile is great.

FGT is still better looking though ;)

Well, the FGT and 720s are more desirable than the 488. That is for sure.

I never thought i'd say this.

FWIW, I was at the production facility yesterday. About 3/4 of the cars in some stage of production either from just hitting the floor to prepared for shipment were destined for the EU. Saw cars destined for Germany, Italy, Ireland, Belgium, France. ~22 cars. EU car was on the dyno and their exhaust is quieter due to some reg. Amber markers and amber tail flash visible differences.

Why? Both are newer. The bones of the 488 go back to 2010 and the Ford costs 50% more.

It seems to me very possible both could be more "desirable".

Yes they are newer but im not talking about perfs. Just desirability. The 488 doesnt make me dream. A 458 does. A Stradale even more.

It's fun when your "team" wins for sure but still just a bit hollow as this class is a long ways from "set a list of minimums and maximums" then "run what ya brung". IMPO a few of these manufactures would finish "laps" down if all weight, HP, wheel base etc. numbers were the same and not just used as starting point for the BOP.

Unfortunately, that is the state of racing today across the board. I’m looking forward to the new-rule LMP1 cars beginning in 2020. Maybe they will provide more excitement. I hope Ford competes in the new class. Ford was part of the discussion about the rule changes, but who knows given the changes at Ford.

Ford and Ferrari have said they are not interested I guess. Porsche I think went to the last meeting along with several other manufactures.

I saw this. One word, aerodynamics. That's where the Ford GT and the 720S win. That's why the Vette will switch to mid engine...and when it does it will be formidable. The Vette already has the power.

ZR1 seems to sacrifice some straight-line speed due to the massive downforce generated. I've read that at 150 mph, it makes over double the downforce (950 lbs. to 400 lbs.) that the FGT makes.
