I'd get a 355 asap but the overall maintenance costs still put me off.
I know it's a different genre car, but my latest 458 annual service bill was $620. I'll live with that.

My friends 458 cost him more the last five years than my 355 F1
He had it since new and had to fix th transmission for 20 grand. Something about the electronics.
I think results will vary with the owners is all I am saying.

That's excellent. I'm concerned about when these new cars get older and how insane the maintenance costs will be with all the technology that is in them. Will be interesting to see, for sure. Hopefully they prove reliable and maintenance costs stay reasonable.

Reading that article makes me want to jump out of bed and go for a late night drive - nothing like the top down on a starry night.

Interesting, spend another 100k on the car to save 100 dollars a month on maintenance while having more depreciation. I'm all for buying whatever you want but not sure there's a big case for saving money here :)

Makes me glad that I pulled the trigger when I did, and that I waited until the right one came along. I think the reason these cars can get a bad rap is folks that buy a cheaper (and needy) example, then cringe when they see the restoration costs. Are these cars priced higher in Europe, or is it the RH drive thing? Nice write up though. :)

The UK RHD market is unique. Prices in Europe for LHD cars are considerably lower. RHD prices in Australia on the other hand...

Someone beat me to it further down the thread - Im not US based as a lot of members aren't. Taking into account the price differences and potential issues on a non warrantable car (355), and the relative costs of those cars in my market, makes the servicing costs more bearable in a 458, for example.

If I looked at say, a 348 TS of which there are quite a few available, then the engine out service costs wouldn't matter.

Australian luxury car taxes especially are horrific!

    Ps Love the 355.

I was thinking the same. I think the old case of buy what you want and the rest is really not relevant.
We all justify things to a point.
The 458 is still right now my favorite ferrari
Except for the one I have

Wow. To someone who's been through hundreds of hours of journalism core curricula (such as myself), that article is a tragedy of English language and grammar.

    Cool subject matter, though.

That's a screen name, and a 'play' on spelling... It doesn't really fit under grammar and English usage rules.

FWIW - It's a user name I've had since 1994, I've stuck with it. CrazyCarGuy was already taken. ;)
