My driver side seat belt doesn't seem to have the retraction tension to sufficiently spool up the shoulder harness when I release it and exit the car. I'm constantly hand feeding the belt back into the slot to get the belt fully retracted-- and it does retract. Just not on it's own by just letting the belt go freely (like on the passeneger's side-- works fine). Car has only 22K miles on it.

Is this something that can be corrected? Is this normal? If I get to the mechanism can it be "clocked" to create more spring tension for the return of the belt? For the record I'm a slender guy. I've tried fully extending the belt and then releasing it but no dice.

    Thanks

Most cars have lifetime warranty on seat belts. I would contact your local Ferrari dealership if I were you and inquire.

Any resolution on this one? I have the exact same problem on my F430 with the passenger-side belt and was going to dig into it this weekend.

I have the issue a bit, in another thread someone told me he spent many monies replacing things to try to fix it only to find it’s a simple adjustment.

The manual calls for the seatbelt assembly to be replaced every 15 years. I tried to buy a replacement set for my CS but when inquiring with ricambi and others, they can't get the parts from Ferrari.
Any thoughts for a source to buy a replacement set?

I had this exact same problem. I purchased a brand new seat belt, only to find out it was something simple. The bolt that holds the upper guide was too tight. I loosened it up a bit and it retracted perfectly.

Which bolt are you referring to? The one just above the retractor (red circle on pic) or the one on the outside where you can adjust the height (14, 15,18)?

I've seen this on many cars, cleaning the belt usually fixes it. Easy enough to try anyway.

#19 isn't really a bolt, it's a pin with a circlip on the end that is only used as a guide to keep the belt from tangling up inside the trim panel. I am repairing a damaged 360 which was involved in an accident and triggered the airbags and seatbelt retractors. I have my seatbelts removed if you need any particular photos. With regards to repairing the retractor, or even changing the belt color, I will be using Safety Restore. No affiliation with them. Originally found them on ebay and used them in the past to install new seatbelt ignitors and reset airbag modules.

You are correct, but with the multi national community on here, what things are called and what they are sometimes are not the same things, which is why I attached the diagram. Technically, the "bolt" that SoftwareDrone may be referring to is the nut at the height adjuster, as the "bolt" has a shoulder which would prevent overtightening. The only other item there is the pin as you mentioned, but like I said, a coke isn't a coke everywhere and asking for a pop in some areas could get you more than you bargained for....

I also plan on using Safety Restore if loosing the bolt or nut doesn't fix my retractor issue. Originally, I thought about changing the colors to "Ferrari Red" (there words) but after thinking about it, I'll stay with basic black.....

Was thinking about going with the yellow for mine, but I'd like to get a sample of it first. Car is yellow with black interior and has the yellow piping on the seats but may switch out the seats for something more fitting for the track. Are you near Houston?

My seats are the standard 360 seats in Cuoio with black carpets. Car is Rosso Fiorano. Thought about going with the red or a darker red closer the car color. Think it would look great with a 4 point harness, just not sure about the standard 3 point type. If I were to put racing type seats in, I think I'd do it but not sure how my wife would feel about that....

Did you guys try cleaning the belt yet? Even if they are not visibly dirty, the dirt that is on them causes a lot of drag.

Take a cloth soaked in upholstery cleaner, pull the belt all the way out and clean both sides.

Would be surprised if that didn't help.

This is a common problem with many cars. Do a careful comparison with the side that is working properly. You will probably find that the offending belt is twisted 180 degrees in the trim panel. The twist means it won't retract properly. To fix it, pull out the belt and twist it 180 degrees in the opposite direction and then push it (allow the twisted bit to retract) into the trim panel. Pull the belt in and out a few times and it should be fixed.

(Not a recommendation but use your instincts)
I have black 3-point belts and wipe down the exposed full length of the belts with a clean cloth lightly soaked (wrung out) in hot soapy water, and then spray a little waxy furniture polish on a fresh cloth and apply to the reverse side of the belts only (and just the retracting part only) and then buff it off with a lint free dry cloth. Works a real treat. Only if that didn’t work would I THEN look at taking the retractor mechanism apart to investigate l - but it has always worked for me on all types of car. It’s now part of my regular interior cleaning routine.

Anyone know where I can but replacements? Ferrari recommends replacement every 15 years. Yet I couldn't source any from the parts outlets.
