So today when I was driving I all of a sudden noticed the DRS Icon active on my left TFT.
I wasn't driving super fast, maybe 75-80 mph
did I just never notice it? Can you actually control the DRS flaps position, or is it determined by sensors alone?

I also thought I felt a difference in the way the car was driving, but it might just be my Imagination.

P.S it wasn't a faulty DRS Icon (Orange), It was the white Icon just indicating its active.

    Thank you

    Hi

They come down about 79mph and retract about 50 mph

I have looked everywhere and there is no way to change or manually control them

The only odd thing is they do not activate below 0degrees and I did notice this when driving in the winter

    Regards

    Michael

    Interesting.
I just never noticed that DRS light on so I thought I might have pressed something.
I'll keep my eye open for that next time I drive the car.
It makes sense that the DRS will not activate when it's freezing temperatures for safety and for not allowing water to freeze there and prevent it from retracting back

The flaps the speciale, 488 and some other models have under the difuser.

I think DRS will activate at lower speeds (between 60 and 70mph) if you accelerate hard.

Drag Reduction System. They are flaps integrated into the rear diffuser.

    Watch from about 2 minutes

I think the idea is if you are going straight ahead and fast, you can reduce drag, and thus, make the car more slippery and move faster. I'm not sure how this affects stability and cornering, but I do know when I drive the 488- it works!

Yes your car doesn’t have a gimmick that gives you 1.3% or whatever of stability. I can notice drs perfectly when it activates just like I notice what’s happening in Japan when I’m sleeping...

Yes, I notice the icon appeared in both my Speciale and 488 at highway speeds. I didn't take note of how fast you have to go to get it on, but I'm sure I always reach the minimum speed very quickly, lol

Technology marches on. I find the things Ferrari builds into its cars, like DRS, really do work, they are not gimmicks. But it doesn't mean the older cars that lack them are bad. The 488 successor will have some new tricks I'm sure. The 488 will still be well regarded.

Touché- I'm sure there is a good reason, I'm just not sure what it is! (Lets face it, there are many differences between street and race cars)

Thank you so much for this thread. I thought it was a fault code I would have to deal with but it was white so I'm good. It's actually a feature! God bless FC!

I have the DRS function on my F8 also. Pretty cool. But I wish we had a switch to activate.

  21. Yes, there is.

It's called the pedal. Press down on it until you reach about 80 mph.

    Boom, DRS activated.
