I've recently noticed what appears to be high pricing for annual calendars like 5726/1a...and what appears to be insane pricing for the "basic" 5711 Nautilus...
    What is going on?

Yea that doesn’t make much sense. I would take the 5726 all day long if the 5711 is the same cost.

5711a stainless still retails for under $30k, it's just the demand driving the prices up above retail.

the demand is beyond crazy right now, they're actually selling at these prices fairly quickly.

So what is driving demand for 5711s above what I, and many others, would consider a superior watch..a 5711 with complication..the 5726?

isn't there a huge waiting list (18-24 months) for 5711s?

if so then it's no different than people paying over sticker to avoid waiting for the latest and greatest Ferrari.

Actually IIRC there is a waiting list for years for most Patek watches...I'm just puzzled that a 5711 is commanding the same price as a 5726, which is essentially the same watch but with added features...why would someone pay the same for a 5711 when they could have a 5726?
    I'm confused.
But...I certainly understand basic market forces...just wondering if this isn't a "tulip" phenomenon that will soon explode.

Most retailers won’t even put you on a list unless you are a big (well into 6 figures annually), spender for a 5711. They only get a few each year.

12-18 month lists were more common maybe 3-5 years ago which is about how long it took to get mine back then.

Still one of my favorites. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Bought my 5712 for 30.5k 2.5yr ago, and now grey market for second hand is 45-50k.
    I personally find this ridiculous.

At 50k, there are simply other products available which are far superior in value.

For example, at about 40k, you can get a newrose gold JLC duometer chrono, which offers similar level of finishes than Patek (unlike other more basic JLCs), a marvel of a mechanism, and precious metal.
JLC is not a brand as strong as Patek but if you ask me if for 300k id get a Portofino or GT2RS id get GT2RS.

Beauty...but how do you keep it from getting scratches?
My 5726 is never worn in any kind of sport activity (gym, etc), and I'm not particularly clumsy, yet has fine scratches all over the band and bezel...frustrating!

I have been able to avoid any significant scratches but I don’t wear it all that often anymore. Mostly use it as a sport dress watch in the Summer and don’t do any heavy lifting with it on.

5711 looks more sleek, 5726 is too busy.

    The
Patek steel prices are just insane. I had a 5980. bought it used for 35k, sold it for 40k. Just wasn't my thing, a bit too small for me. I prefer 42mm watches. These are now going for 75-80k. insane.

    I have a 5522 that I paid 20k for. Supposedly selling for 50k.

Just dont buy into the hype as I dont see how this can last.

Nautilus is the watch I used to love the most. I collect them since 20 years.
Now they became too trendy and I don't like this too much.
Prices are CRAZY for the stainless steel ones.
Actually best buy is 5711/1r in rose gold: the one with the best price.
