There is nothing on YouTube or google to how to do this. No direction to how to hard wire directly to review mirror or the interior light of the car. Need some direction with this please. Thanks.

I just had a V1 installed in my 458. After much research the dealer hardwired it to the ignition switch and fused it. The small curled cord sits the V1 just below the rear view mirror to one side - it's saved me several times to date.
You don't 'see' the radar from the drivers position and I use V1 Driver app on iPhone. So far the perfect setup for usability .

On my 458, when I bought it, they had a power wire setup by the driver's side visor to power the V1 I think it was. When I removed the wire, I traced how they had routed it. It ran along the headliners seam by the windshield, then down the A pillar a little - then it jumped over and ran down the big rubber/foam insulation thing around the door jam/opening. Then the wire ran down along that insulation towards the back. As I remember, it went under the little panel behind the driver's seat and they had connected it to some power back there (I would guess the power leads to the cigarette lighter port). Pretty clean installation.

I’m about to add my V1 when it gets back from paint correction. I see your photo but cannot make out exactly where you tapped your power. Can you add in detail where you tapped it please and a close up photo if it’s not too much trouble.

    Thank you

I live in a very populated area and use the Waze app.

It very accurately tells me where the cops are because there is so much input from other drivers.

Is there another advantage to these installed/hardwired radar detectors?

I have the K40 on my other 3 vehicles. It’s great. But didn’t want to drill holes or have laser jammers in front sticking out. At least this way there is no harm done. And you have some extra protection

Lol, ok, so you made the tip smaller. By filing it down or does it literally split in half? Thanks George

With a electrical cutter chip it off slowly to make it half. And then I noticed it splits in half. So it fits in the small slot

If your talking about that u shaped plastic piece? It just takes some gentle pressure, I used a flat head screwdriver and my fingers and gently worked it loose and eventually pulled it straight down.

Is it similar on a 488 spider?

If your dome light looks like the one pictured I'd say yes.

I prefer custom installed solutions that completely hide the radar system. I'm getting the Escort MAX Ci 360 on my 488 but here's a creative solution for the V1. The radar unit has to be hidden somewhere inside the cabin.

My V1 had the option of connecting to the OBD socket. Worked like a charm. Ran wire along windshield molding - not visible from seating area. OBD provides power to unit. I use the standard suction mount on placing the V1 at the top of the windshield near the rear view mirror. It's within easy reach, allowing me to silence the unit or make other adjustments. Should work for you as well.

I've been successful in many cars mounting the V1 on to the passenger sun visor with the provided visor clip mount. I personally do not like suction cup mounts. In heat like Vegas they fall off. Also it's a pain to take it off to put the reflector/heat shield on during a hot day. It's out of the way and hidden, has a good line of sight and I can easily reach the mute button. Plus, the visor is still functional as well.
