Hello all. I am a long time lurker who's never posted much since I don't have much to add to the convo (yet!) :)

I will be in Las Vegas this weekend and I am planning to head over to LV Motor Speedway to drive a Ferrari on the track while I am there. After 27 years of loving these cars this will be my first time behind the wheel and I couldn't be more excited.

My question is regarding choice of car. It is about 50% more expensive go for the 488 GTB vs the F430 (The 458 Italia is barely any less than the 488 so I have cut it already). I realize the 488 will be faster but since I have never driven either I am thinking it would be wise to go with the F430 and save the extra cash for the craps table. My thought process is that it will be an amazing experience either way so why spend more than necessary?

Do you guys think this is the right call or would you pony up for the 488? All input is appreciated!!

Having driven all three, I'd go with the 458 actually...

488 without a doubt. Why give $ to a casino when you can use the money for the experience of a lifetime. One you'll never forget!

    from their website...

    From $45/lap for F430
    From $76/lap for 488GTB

If you're going to pay,... buy the best.

depending on what you drive now...if you have a pretty fast modern car then the 430 may not impress you too much since its not fast by modern standards. Otherwise both will give you an awesome experience. 488 is fastest and more modern and probably better in everyway but you can rev higher in the 430, feel more raw and experience an N/A Ferrari :) 458 is not a bad choice either!

    458 or 488 for sure....

Nothing wrong with an F430 but the 458/488’s are just (in my opinion) that much better it’s worth it

Well I'm not sure what is considered fast in modern cars but the 430 is still pretty fast and it still impresses me and after what I've owned and driven that says something.. Okay so time for a dose of reality, first have you ever been on a track before? If the answer is no the combination of that experience along with driving your first Ferrari is going to be an excitement overload. I assume they will not let you turn off the traction controls (then you could really have fun), and I will agree the 488 is faster (and easier to drive faster), but the 430 with CST off is a very engaging car to drive. Question is do you just want to go around the track fast easier or use your skill to get the most out of the car. I like the 488 (I should I have already built mine for production), but I think I'll hold on to the 430 when it comes. I think you will probably have just as much fun in the 430. I'm not answering this with what I'd do, or with my experiences, I'm trying to put myself in your shoes OP, and give you the best advise based on that. Could be you also see a 430 in your future! Have a great time.

If you have track experience in cars with over 400hp then drive a 458/488. If you don't have track experience drive the F430.
