Hi , my 1978 euro gt 4 has 1+3/4 steering wheel turns in both directions.I don't know if it is normal or could be the first owner changed steering gear? How many turns are in your Gt 4? Thank you v. m. best regrds ciao Antonino
Ciao Antonino, the steering rack is the same for all 208-308 ever made, Dino and Ferrari, GTB/GTS and GT4 From the Eurospares site: https://www.eurospares.co.uk/parts/ferrari/308-gt4-dino-1976/suspension-steering/streering-box-and-linkage-42275/149201 Ferrari Part #149201 Fits: Ferrari 208 GT4 Dino (1975), 208 GTB GTS, 208 Turbo (1982), 246 Dino (1975), 246 GT Series 1, 308 (1981) GTBi/GTSi, 308 GT4 Dino (1976), 308 GT4 Dino (1979), 308 GTB (1976), 308 GTB (1980), 308 Quattrovalvole (1985) #149201: LHD Steering Rack As I never checked, I cannot tell you if my 308 GTB steer does the same turns, but going just with my memory I would say yes. ciao
Who'd have thought there'd be any useful information in the owners handbook: 3.28 turns lock to lock !
And you can buy a "quick rack" from superformance UK (rack and pinion only). You would have to rebuild it.
Thank you v. m. friends.Sorry i don't want to change my steering rack ,only i would know if others GT 4 owners have the same steering turns.
Antonino, to be honest in my car and another GT4 I know in Wisconsin USA, Our turns lock to lock are not equal. Approx 1.75 to the left and approx. 1.5 to the right. Its true on two different cars. don't know why but that's how mine is. I set it with equal turns after my rack rebuild and the steering was off center. the difference between equal turns and not is 2 teeth from memory, maybe three tooths. But either way your steering turns lock to lock seem correct in total. Ciao
