So I believe WOO 308 in that Instagram photo is s/n 26159. In the past, this car was also registered as EKR 667T, SYD 562, J74 CUC and GGD 222T.

WOO 308 was also on a different car in the past (not this modified one), which was s/n 27123, previously registered as BYN 599T among others.

Yes, this is my 308GTB that I am restoring at GTB Restorations Ltd., for a charity road trip to Greece in July 2019. We are collecting on behalf of British Heart Foundation and Parkinsons who badly need your donations. Please go to JustGiving.com, search for my JustGiving pages under Chris Withers and read my story.

    All,

A slightly different challenge for you all.....

Does anyone have a photo the 2nd and 4th UK RHD Testarossas?

2nd car was #57255, red B568OPF, then in 1987 became RAG7 ......but a photo of this car does not seem to exist.

4th car was #57855, red B212XNW, and ended up in Brunei eventually.........but a photo of this car does not seem to exist either.

[1st car was #56141, red B842MPB and the 3rd car was #57257, blue B843MPB owned by Colonel Hoare himself]

I reckon 1985-1987 would be the most likely years to see these cars, as they were so rare at that time.

    Can anyone help?

    Many thanks
    Robert

I notice that '28 EVE' and '69 EVE' were on cars belonging to Mr W R Curtis. Perhaps '20 EVE' was also his?

Wow. Great spot finding something made by the BBC. I can’t believe that’s how the great Modena Engineering started.

I am still going through my old copies of Motorsport and have discovered this advert from August 1981. This particular ad was certainly ahead of its time when there were, at about the same time, small ads of only a few lines selling 250 LMs and SWBs.

I think the first four cars shown here are 15909, 7397, 15999 (this based on the registration but not sure due to the colour) and 16827 (since had the roof cut off).
Not enough on the 365 GTC or 250 GT Lusso for me to have a go at.

Funny how the asking price on the Daytona berlinetta is considerably more than the 275 or Lusso. That would change only a few years later.

    Dear Robert

The C/4 was originally Grigio. It certainly looks silver and is described as such. Now dark met blue.

I don't have a record of #16827 being a cut car now. Have you got a picture ?

    The Lusso is #5461.

I think the 365 GTC could be 12447.

Thank you Mark. I had a quick look in various places online and everywhere just mentioned that this car was blue, there was no mention anywhere that I looked that said it had been silver. I had wondered if the registration had been on more than one car, although I thought this unlikely.

There is not much information online about 16827 and I was surprised to discover that it was listed as a conversion. I have never photographed this car but a usually reliable online source lists it as a conversion, along with the "colourful" interior. This will have to remain a mystery for now but clearly somewhere some of the information is wrong. My money is on Mark and Grant having the correct information but, as ever, am prepared to be wrong on this.

Here is 28 EVE, on 5143GT I think. From Motorsport in October 1981. The phone number on the ad is for the Sheffield area (SH2 postcode if Wikipedia is correct) and if Barchetta.cc is correct Mr W.R. Curtis had not been the owner for a few years so it looks like he did not retain the registration.

That is interesting Matthew. I paid £11750 for my GTC in January 81. It came from Maranello Concessionaires and was in good order.

A year or so later, Modena Engineering were offering an average Daytona for £19K, but I was also tempted by a 500 Superfast parked next to it at the same price! Sadly, the latter was a prime example of deferred maintenance and bodging - coins were soldered on to the header tank to fill holes drilled by someone looking for a blockage!! I hate to think what that would have cost to put right!

William Loughran has (and probably still has) a reputation for selling the very best examples at a strong price.

    It is 09897 and it is a 275 GTB/4 (not a 275 GTB).
Original exterior color: Azzurro La Plata 20-A-167 with light blue carpets and light blue headliner and Nero VM 8500 leather interior.
