I found this picture of a guy standing on top of an F40 to take a picture !!
It looks like it is the owner of the F40, but still... why would you do that ???

No harm no foul if it's wrapped in PPF. If it's not, I would not stand on the paint like that...

The owner also drifts his CGT and parks his cars on the street and in public garages.

The car is his toy so he can do what he likes, however distasteful we may find his actions. As far as I can see though, all he is taking a picture of is a Bugatti EB110 with the door open so why bother? Perhaps he is an architect and likes the buildings in the background.

If that's the actual owner, he can very obviously do as he pleases. His car, his money.

A paint scuff by the owner’s shoe is horrible and a paint chip by a rock on a road trip or track day is celebrated?

Why worry about things that aren’t yours?

Who said that a paint chip by a rock is celebrated ?? Both a paint chip and a paint scuff by the owner's shoe are bad incidents...

The difference is that the first just happens by accident, while the second one you cause it yourself...

Something that can be easily prevent it, why cause it in the first place ?

I see people spend $$$ on waxing / polishing cars, but take very bad care of them...

A little preventive care goes a long way...

Of course it is the owner's right to do whatever he wants with his F40, but this is missing the point... Is it right what he is doing ? Would you do it yourself if it was your car ?

Its always a good indication of how the wealth to purchase such a rare and valuable object was actually obtained.

I would say that F40 is a trendy trinket to that particular owner, but as others have said its theirs to do what they like.

Some cars are buying with public funds. When money mean nothing you will have decadent behaviour.

I'm all for private initiative/property and free market.

What disturbes me is today's society values are completely upside down.

All in for the greatest "car spot".

Do you think its ok to stand on a BMW? a Civic? I bet this car is a smaller percentage of the owners wealth that most BMW or Honda owners.

Well, I think it depends on the perspective and education/values of each person.

Owner wise, I would disapprove the same way, whether its an F40, Civic or 320i.

Ferrari wise, I believe most of us agree that before being owners, we are custodians.
Most Ferrari - if not wrecked, are used/kept for decades and have an importance (artistic/mechanical/sentimental) to society much higher than most cars. This is why usually they are more valued.

Basically, its the difference between damaging a work of art or damaging an appliance. :)

So what - he can do as he pleases - It is a car, cars can be repaired/repainted etc - and a comparison to a piece of art does not hold water imo as one of those is usually unique - plenty of F40s around

I guess it's like using a Picasso as a place setting. Your money, your painting.
I don't feel that way though.
I was taught to appreciate, respect and be responsible with anything of value.

I have to be honest, I am surprised by the results so far...

"47% of you would gladly step on top on an F40 !!!!!!!"

Wow, and I thought this was a Ferrari owner & enthusiast forum !!!!!! Hahaha

I wonder what the results would have been if there was a guy standing on a McLaren/Lambo (Ferrari competition) ?? Closer to 80% would step on it !!!!! Hahahah

(don't take the above serious, all are in humorous mood !!)

F1 drivers stand on their cars all the time without any damage. They're all carbon fiber and wrapped. Obviously the reason for standing on it is different, but they are still standing on it. I would be against standing on it if it was aluminum or if it was unwrapped CF with exposed paint.

    Best post of the thread!

    Agree 100%.

Although a few people have both class & money, clearly the latter does not buy the former!!

However, when I see that picture, I don't think of any of the things so far mentioned in this thread.

I immediately think DFA (Desperate For Attention)!

Nothing more to see here, as all-too-often is the case in our age of social media views.

Anyone knows you don't need to stand on a car to take a picture of another behind it, cmon, who are we kidding? That said, the owner of this F40 has probably now given permission for any teenage carparazzi to jump onto the hood of it and emulate his behavior to take pictures of other supercars ;)

I completely missed this point !!! You are 100% correct in the DFA (Desperate For Attention) conclusion !!!

As if driving on Place du Casino, in Monaco, a red Ferrari F40 with a good looking female passenger does not draw enough attention... This guy had to step on top of the car to show "look I have enough money not to care to step on a million dollar car"

Let's face it most people that drive Ferrari cars are not exactly shy, and some even choose them for attention, however this is too much... in my opinion of course !!!

But in the end of the day, it's his car and his money !!

Unfortunately, social media has generated a whole population of people who have succumbed to behavior that they would not have even considered just a few years ago, as a result, we also have the FFATWR (Famous For All The Wrong Reasons), then there is the GMBLC (Grown Men Behaving Like Children) ... I could go on, but its such a long list and I actually have productive things to do!
