Yes, Bourdais is in excellent form and the move he made on the three cars was perfectly legitimate. He did not cross onto the pit exit in fact he juked left to avoid crossing the double yellow line. Seems to me this double yellow line they use at Long Beach has been an issue before. Why not just extend the pit wall there? If they're going to punish moves like that, someone better get their arms around Indy Car race control now. Bourdais has a right to be upset. BHW
I believe the blue lines are also considered to be part of pit exit. Marshall Pruett did a nice analysis of the situation. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10157333500262782 In IMSA qualifying a number of drivers were having their times taken away for crossing those lines.
I've always thought that was cutting the course, and should have been penalized. but I also don't care because it was such a ridiculous move
Cutting the course? He was already past Herta with a bold move (and Herta left the door open for it). You never wanna go off into crap like that as it could damage the car (notice the bouncing over the curbs, off and back on the circuit...always a risk); it was not intentional and it didn't gain him any position....
'Incredible' pass? It looked like a normal pass to me, they left the door open and he was there to take it? MOST guys would not have the balls to do it, but he did, so, was it a great pass, or ball size? Both, I suppose. And he got penalized for actually racing? That's just stupid...
Quite observant of you. What's your point? If it's Long Beach, Bourdais crossed the pit road line. simple. I already explained 'Seca.
