Mclaren says they have resolved testing issues - https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/134910/mclaren-problems-from-testing-are-resolved I hope they do well this weekend.....
I can't help but be skeptical. However, for the sake of competitiveness this season, I sincerely hope I'm wrong. I'm an Alonso fan, and he's something to behold when he has a fast car underneath him.
Doesn't matter. They've lost a lot of testing and development time. Others have been running with different loads, tires, configurations, etc. They spent 2 weeks trying to get their car to run without breaking.
True. But McLaren are also very good at developing their car through the season. Even if it’s rubbish in Australia, they will get the package sorted. Only question is whether they will do that before Alonso self destructs...
Update to weather. Nice dry Friday. Wet possible qualy and race - https://weather.com/weather/weekend/l/ASXX0075:1:AS
I really want the F1 TV Pro streaming service. That is the ONLY way I'll watch, as several seasons with the Moto GP Video Pass has spoiled me. I registered my interest at the F1 site, but haven't heard anything back yet.
Heard it should be up and running by Thursday, 22nd, but no guarantee. As much as I'm pumped for the season to start, I can't help the feeling that Merc will be comfortably up front come Q and the race. Hoping to be proven otherwise, though.
Yes, I fear parades with Mercedes up front, but hope Ferrari is at least in the hunt. In any event, streaming will be so much better than commercial TV!

MARCH 20, 2018 Ferrari is close to Mercedes Ferrari could be closer to Mercedes this season than has been suggested in recent days and weeks. That is the view of Alex Wurz, who admitted that whether Ferrari can take on the German team is the big unanswered question ahead of the Melbourne season opener. "We have seen in the tests that they are close together," the former F1 driver and current GPDA president said. "Red Bull will also get involved at some circuits," he told Der Standard newspaper. "But my gut feeling is that they are still two, three tenths behind." However, many believe Mercedes is clearly in the lead, but Wurz is not so sure. "It's a similar picture to last year. Everyone thought Mercedes was bluffing but then Ferrari was extremely fast. On the long runs Mercedes has a slight but insignificant advantage. "It's in the time range in which the daily fluctuations of the drivers and the teams makes the difference," Wurz added. Meanwhile, Wurz said it is good that all of the F1 drivers have now signed up for the Grand Prix Drivers' Association that he leads. "We are all together in a single boat and must think together about formula one, even if there are many political camps in this sport," he said. "This is very important, as all the drivers - and 100pc of the drivers are GPDA members - have said that we must be fully committed to the sport rather than just as individuals," Wurz added.

Agreed a Superfast SC would be wonderful. If is wasn't for cost measures, I would be nice if each Country had its own manufactured model SC.
Just maybe the Halo causes problems with a certain couple of Mercedes cars, and we have: Q: VET, RAI, VER Race: VET, RAI, VER
