Im checking for a friend: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1995-Ferrari-F355-SPIDER/173175954965?hash=item2852175e15:g:e8sAAOSwkvFaf1JY&vxp=mtr
Well the vin falls in 95 range (should be dual pump 2.7) but it has a 5.2 engine. Not sure what's going on but probably not something good.
I don't know anything about it but it looks a little rough to me. Why does it have a 5.2 engine? The center console seems to have some issues. In some pics the A/C controls appear to be loose and others they appear to be correct. The mirror controls appear to be "sunk" a bit. The right engine bay shield is missing.
Yeah with a 5.2 engine they would have had to change a lot of stuff. That's nuts. The photos are not helping its cause
Weird exhaust. No idea what that one is, Someone might want to teach them how to put the HVAC panel back in..... Image Unavailable, Please Login
seen this one in my daily market watch.. thought it was just a mistake posted as a 1995, seeingg as it has 5.2 engine.. however if vin confirms its a 2.7 car... then obviously it had an engine swap at some point.. which annoyingly seller offers no mention of it.. or likely an owner who never should have been and doesn't know the difference etc.. if the car runs well and swap done properly.. I don't see an issue as a pure driver car, with no concern of resale value.. but would have to be less then that price.
Not a car to buy without full inspection, drive and PPI. Guy seems honest and even parked on grass to take pic presumably in a rush... bet this one has little or no records too.
A friend asked me about that car too. So I asked the seller this morning...Kind of ****** response. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Also an engine replacment wouildnt require complete change to a 5.2 engine system it should still have two mafs and what not its alot of **** to change.
Hmmm... I'd walk away and never come back after an answer like that. Dude must not want to sell the car.
Yea, but read this sellers negative feedback... Seems that pulling back cars that have sold has happened before, multiple times. I’ll bet a buck it shows up on eBay again relisted.
Ferrari chat police strike again. Gotta love it when everyone busts this wide open. Hope he never sells the car until he learns to actually tell the truth. Total lie that it was replaced under warranty, what a crock.
Just flag it. Man what a crock. My gut says there's only one real reason to swap a motor, wiring harnesses, the huge fact that you go from two ECU(s) to a single ECU for engine management. But I could be wrong. Even the interior carpet on the rear bulkhead changed between the 2.7 and 5.2 so there was an access panel added for both Engine and Alarm ECUs. I wonder where the engine ECU has been stuffed on this car and if they added the bulkhead access behind the passenger seat.
I know a reason that someone would do that engine swap: I wonder if it was one of the 355’s that was flooded last year ? There are a boat load of these non-fcars flooding the market. And somehow they find a way to wash the title. ( Sorry for the puns ) And maybe by replaced under warranty he really means insurance.
^this, bet something is hot on this car. He took offense very fast when asked about the engine.... deleted the public add etc
These miles as listed <24,500 miles> are also BS, as the CarFax says Not Actual Miles, which makes sense for the engine swap, but then why would you post and withhold that pertinent information?
car is relisted on ebay... The car was on autotrader or cars.com and he openly disclosed the engine swap there. Not sure what the big deal is. At some point a (previous) owner or current was faced with an engine rebuild, valve job issue or something else with a huge $ tag. They sourced a enigne for less $ than the repair and installed it. Happens in all makes models. If priced right who's getting hurt??
That would not have beeneven closest to the cheapest. Cheapest would have been buy the 5.2 engine and steal the parts for the 2.7 and leave all the computers alone.
Now if water damaged and all computers were pooched thats a differant story especially if it was not insured. Buy a wrecked 5.2 spyder cheap with lots of miles and replace everything. I am not saying this happened but I would not buy this car without a lot more due dilligence than had this not been done.
