I have an 83 308 GTS QV which will need a new clutch in the next couple of years.

I am considering putting in a Kevlar clutch.

Most people tell me Kevlar clutches are too sticky and therefore not fun to drive.

However, I saw one post here on F-Chat from someone who installed one and seems very happy with it.

So ... I would like to find out for myself. If anyone has a 308, 328, or Mondial with a kevlar clutch, may I take it for a short test drive?

    Thanks,
    Sam in Saratoga

This won't be of TOO much help, as I've moved to Georgia, but I have one in my '79 GT4. Juan at Grand Prix Motors in Campbell did the build and install during a routine major service. I find the car very drivable - not too sticky. My clutch pedal is very heavy (relative to other, modern manuals I've owned), but I don't attribute that to the Kevlar...

    Best of luck.

So if you had to do it over, would you do it again?

I have a Kevlar clutch in my 348.

I probably have 6k miles on it. Yes, it grabs fast but is not an issue. My mechanic in Campbell said it’s the last clutch I will ever need.

Any chance I could take it for a short test drive to a get a feel for it?

Two people have told me the Kevlar clutches are too sticky for non-race track driving. But now, two fellow F-Chatters have told me they are happy with their Kevlar clutches.

I’d do it. It grabs harder so it slips less. The durability outweighs a pre mature replacement.
