Hiro and GT Spirit 1/12th Ferrari 250 GTO Compare. I like the GT Spirit nose better. The rear scoop and shape behind the rear wheel is off on the GT Sprit. Overall I like the GT Spirit front and cockpit shape body better than the Hiro excluding the rear end. Everything else on the Hiro is better as it is a proper full detail kit. I would say a good set of decals and the Hiro wire wheels would turn the GT Spirit into a very nice model. I finally bought another 1/12 Revell. I picked one up around 20 years ago for $100 but gave it away as a gift. Found this one locally, new in the box. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Tom, that is a great comparison! Very helpful. I still have my Hiro GTO kits in their boxes. Looks like I'll be reshaping noses on them, and some other areas too, but I still prefer them to an upgraded GT Spirit.
Any interesting models at the toy fair in 1/12th scale that they missed?? I think we know about most of the new ones before the fair even starts via facebook. http://www.scale18.com/cgi-bin/page/msg?func=list
Not much in 1:12th that we don't already know about, but I do think there were probably some pieces there that we have not seen. Heard that GT Spirit is going to make a 1:12th - '63 Corvette 'Split Window'. I wish someone would also do show coverage of 1:12th, not just the 1:43rds and 1:18's that everyone does. I did see pics of the GP Replicas 1:12 Ferrari 250 TR on diecastsociety.com today. It is a lousy model. So much wrong with it. Disappointing, but not at all surprising. Not worth the resin it is made of.
Another lousy, poorly made, and poorly researched 1:12th model is going to be let loose on the unsuspecting public.... again. The culprit is GP Replicas who are part of Top Marques. More photos can be seen at this direct link. If you look at them you'll see the bad profile, bad engine, and bad interior..... www.tmcollectibles.com/en/250-testarossa-pre-order Image Unavailable, Please Login
Been a while since I was in here! Market has changed a bit too! Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
How are you, Matt? Yes the market has changed a lot, have you heard news from slk99? What about your collection?

Just finished the Ferrari 641/2 ( although waiting for new tires from Tamiya as original ones are deformed. ) I had so much fun, I just started the 312T. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Looks like Tecnomodel is getting into 1/12th scale with this first offering, the Ferrari Silverstone 375 winner 1951. The wheels look better than on most of their models but still not 100 % correct. This looks like a retouched set of photos so we will have to wait and see if it is correct. I see several problems already but not to bad. The 375's exhaust is wrong. As usual Tecnomodel did not research it correctly and did the Exhaust the way it is on the restored car.
Stop the madness!! Just what we need (not)..... 300 more of these 1:12th "sort of" GTO's from GT Spirit. The color doesn't help it. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I am happy with 1/12th scale and 1/8th is really getting big. I wish they would use a lighter resin material like most of the kit makers do. These new prebuilt models are very heavy. They make it out of that grey hard as a rock resin that shatters very easily. BBR used this stuff to do their old 1/43rd, 1/24th and 1/20th kits and half the kits used to break into a million pieces.
I agree about the resin they all use. It weighs so much and is so brittle because it has a great deal of filler in it, which in turn makes it much cheaper to buy. They use it because it is the least expensive resin. Cheap resin = poor quality resin.
Hi I received my 1:12 scale Dino 246 GT yesterday. I would say ... good model even if there are no opening (no dust inside). Shape is not perfect but paint is good. Interior is detailed correctly. Beautiful to expose. A little bit expensive ... reasonnable price would be 300 euros max. https://flic.kr/s/aHsmfewCvu Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my SM-G531F using FerrariChat.com mobile app
