Ferrari 488 Pista

They make cars for your taste as well. I think the Portofino is classically beautiful, yet with modern flair.

Yep ,those previous VS names just sound great with a bit of flourish at the ennddd with a touch of hand movement thrown in..... so errr Pistaaaaa?

 

The name sounds "technically" right, Pista = Track that's OK... but it doesn't sound exotic or epic

488 Monza would have been just perfect.

 

And here I was thinking it would have 730 PS just to piss of Mclaren

 

The car is supposed to look aggressive and track worthy not be just an elegant beauty . These are modern cars with capabilities that far surpass older models that may to some people look more simple and beautiful. Car looks modern , aggressive and purposeful. Ferrari did a great job imo in not only the looks department but in actuality upping the performance to a new level. A much bigger difference than other core to special editions in the past. If it competes with the 720, Performante and GT2 RS they will have a winner. Now I have to give some serious thought to how I’m going to spec it...

 

The name is lame. We get it, Pista means track (thanks for the Italian lessons) and this is a track focused car, but it doesn't sound exotic or tough or sexy or racey or special(e). And the Pista Aperta will be ridiculous - loosely translating to track convertible - not good. I've seen some cool name ideas from a lot of people contributing to this thread - I'd say 10-12 guesses better than Pista IMO (and GTO is not one of them).

 

"Monza" name was reserved for 4-cylinder Ferraris in the 50s.

 

There is a whole thread on here wondering why no car named after Schumacher, well here's a great opportunity for a special edition:

Calling a special version "Speciale" was not that special actually - but nobody cares
IMHO an Aperta does not make sense anyway for a track-oriented road car, so that's not an issue either...

 

Still hope that pista is the temporary name until they unveal the right name in Geneva

for some the name is such a no go.
that we think about a rename. but the comparison with the video. stripes, numberplate, head lights is interesting.
the fact that official ferrari pics are sometimes photoshoped or looking strange is also valid...

GT2RS is King of the Hill at the moment.
and you, who are not happy with Pista, you also know what RS stands for? or Carrera in spanish.

still also i would be happy if we hear today another name.

Looks great. Very nice intricate detailing on the shapes. Looks like they put a lot of attention on the details.

AND... revealed with properly colored wheels for best impression despite the likely temptation to push the expensive CF wheels.

Surprised with the missing shields! I wonder if there would be one single customer to customize it without them.

 

Deliberate obfuscation on the name for the video for obvious reasons, including maybe name undecided at the time of shooting.

The treatment around the front lights is unexpected. Good catch. Could be very subtle and only accentuated by Photoshop or a last minute change from pre-production.

 

Are you sure, 721 PS seems a child joke, 721 BHP equal to 730 PS makes more sense.

This conversion is incorrect. Actually the BHP is of a slightly higher value as it includes the engine's ancillaries.

 

Carbon connecting rods? True?Anyone else expecting that?

Inconel exhaust? Probably just manifold but otherwise Marco will be very happy
