I woke up in a new..... BUUUUUUUGATTI!!!
A car i wish I would have bought when I was in high school was a 964 Porsche. They were so cheap and I never thought anything of them at the time. I was so so off.
I graduated in '76 and was already into Italian cars. I wanted a Dino 246 as an almost attainable car, but the 512 BB was my favorite. Got a '74 X1/9. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Lusso available at our local Fiat/Tiumph/MG dealership for $17K back in the late 70's, and for a teenager making $2.35 per hour, it might as well been $1,000,000 at the time....
By high school in the mid-90s, W140 S-class was the nicest car I had ever ridden in. I thought they were amazing cars: Image Unavailable, Please Login I don't remember which exotic I would have said at the time, probably either a 328 or Testarossa. The 355, 512TR and 456 were the lineup when I graduated HS. By the end of HS I had seen 3 Ferraris in my life: two 308s and one TR.
For me it was the diablo, murcielago, 550/575. Now in my 30s and can finally afford it, went with the 575. Living in miami, that scene in bad boys 2 is on the bridge right next to my condo, its just amazing to me to be able to drive it on there like mike lowry!
I had a high budget as a kid. Anything over say $45k was off the table. Although, not just mine. Parents bought a spare vehicle for skiing at our house in Whistler and lake Tahoe... I used it the most in high school as my daily. It was an 1989 BMW 325ix. I graduated in 1990. So I bought a Corvette.
I received Kirk White's monthly newsletter when I was in middle school, at one time he had 3 250 GTOs in stock. All of them were $8-9000. That was the dream. The reality was a rootbeer brown International Scout.
A ferrari 512, and a Gt40, 10 years out of Hs got the 512 with a loan and some savings. Had the 512 for 25 years now. The Gt40 experiment was short lived. I was also partial to 928s, never had one. Loved countaches, had one, terrible car. 288 was holy grail, never tired one, certainly cant afford it. Daytona was Junior high dream, never driven or been in one. Cobras of course, driven some replicas. What I would say about Hs dream cars and those I tried, most dont stack up to the imagination in reality. But then other than the Mclaren Senna I cant think of modern that truly gets me excited. Well maybe a hellcat. Truth is these days if youre a drivers driver, its pretty hard to beat a lotus, and between the vette and hotter camaros mustangs youve got the bases covered. Maybe I am just old, but then many new motorrocycles are imo still drreamworthy machines, so I think cars have lost a lot.
yeh i graduated in 94 so it was the height of the Japanese stuff. everyone i knew has a mustang or IROC.
High school graduating class of 1994 Back then I only wanted one car: 3000GT VR-4 which I thought looked a lot like a Ferrari Testarossa
One picture: s4play, I bet we could get along! I settled for a DOHC 222 HP, because thats all I could afford, but man I would have killed for a green VR4. Literally, I probably would have considered killing for it in highschool. Green... pop up headlights... AWS...Twin turbo with active aero...
In high school I had an 88 bmw m3 .... I was the coolest kid in school and I absolutely loved that car. But my dream cars back then were the Countach the F40 and the 355.
