Daily is a manual 328 wagon. Also have a manual F355 and 88 Toyota pickup. 59 Cadillac is auto, no manual trans available on those. 68 Charger is also auto but would like it better in a 4 speed.

I bought the Cali as a daily driver to go back and forth to work. Wanted something reliable and in LA , easy to deal with in traffic. I had the Audi when I wanted to row the gears for fun.

Now that Im only working from home (and out of LA) I can be more selective about when I go for a drive, so the convenience of the Cali isnt necessary. So I can get back to rowing gears for pleasure.

Ive had a 355 and a 360 in the past so I know they work for me.

That put a funny image in my head. :)

I have a 308 and a 360, both manual. My grocery getter is an auto.

I'm planning to replace the 308 with a 612, but I haven't decided whether to pay for the privilege of a manual, or go with an F1/a. I turn sixty next month, and can squat 300 pounds, so no physical reason not to get the manual, but the 360 is not exactly a joy in stop-and-go traffic. Perhaps it is trying to tell me to get a paddle shift 612 with that nice auto mode.

So which one do you like better and why? If this is getting the thread off topic I apologize.

All three serve different purposes for me. I couldnt say one is better than the other.

355 is a wonderfully raw driving experience. Its like a go-kart.
360 is a more modern feeling car that still keeps one foot in the raw experience.
California is an amazing daily driver/cruiser.

    7 cars 4 manual 3 auto
All the autos are trucks are suvs.
The manuals are for pure driving pleasure.
I could see a Dct for my next track car. In fast fun road car I don't get the point of a DCt unless you do a lot of traffic. But for traffic it's hard to beat a SUV.

After 15 years of manual only cars, the Houston traffic finally pushed me into an auto (Ford Escape). Did buy my 16 year old daughter a manual Kia Soul....and there is always the Lamborghini to slum around in.

My Lotus is a manual, but for daily driving I prefer an auto for traffic, or when I am in SoCal.

My DD is a manual. Even driving in traffic, I prefer it.

My DD is a fiat 500 abarth manual, wouldn't have it any other way. I sought this car out because it was available with a stick.

I've never owned anything with an auto trans. My ex never did, either.

My wife has never driven a "stick," so she has a Toyota & Subaru, but my current car (Z3) has a manual trans.

p.s.? My Z3 is a 1997 (been mine since 2000,) has a bit over 100K miles on it, and is on its original clutch. Gonna knock on wood right now! :)

I have one manual left, the 2005 Ford GT, and it doesn't get driven much. Too worried about someone running into it, and dealing with diminished value.

I’m 35 and I think it depends on each car. Wouldn’t have these with any other gearbox option.

    My manuals:
    • Miata NB
    • Impreza WRX STI
    • 911 C4S

    My “autos”:
    • M5 E60
    • 430 Scuderia
    • 458 Speciale (arriving soon)
    • Range Rover

    I’ve had X5s, M5 F10, all autos.

Currently my winter DD is auto and I hate driving it. You dont get any feel of the road or anything, it just feels boring. In the summer I have and see no issues driving my Viper daily with the 6 speed, its definitely a lot more fun.

Two of my cars are (looking at a 3rd), and I think I will have at least a couple manual cars for as long as I can still push the pedal down.

My winter DD (4x4 pickup truck) is a manual and I do like that for snow covered roads, hills, mountains, etc.

I grew up with manuals, and after driving the current crop of automatics, including double clutch gearboxes, it'd be very difficult to go back. It would have to be a very special car indeed to go manual route.

I drive my wife's old 2007 mini cooper s with 6 speed, she drives a 2017 mini cooper s clubman 6 speed. My '84 land rover and f355 are both manuals as well.

I think I'd go dual clutch on a new performance car if available, though, depends on the car.

Clutches generally last about as long as you let them. I have about 300k miles on my Audi and it still has the original clutch.
