In the market for first preowned Rolex, where should i buy it? I'm in NYif it matters. Looking for someone honest. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Agree with DavidSW. I’ve bought 2 Rolexes from him, a Sub a few years ago, and more recently, a BLNR. He has both peowned and New watches available.
. The manager of my store. There's a thread about me here on Fchat (I think it's in Silver subscribed)-you can look me up. I have a number of Fchatters, and just sold a six figure stone to an Fchatter. Feel free to call me to discuss. Best Mike (Adamas)
bernardwatch.com. ive bought a few pieces from them. easy transactions a pleasure to deal with JP and the guys there.
darth550 has damned good prices on new and pre-owned stuff. That said, I bought the gf a brand new mid size Datejust, mop dial, diamond markers and bezel from A and E Watches in San Fran. 7 year warranty because it is new, 5 years if pre-owned.
If you don't mind me asking... for those who have bought pre-owned... how much did you save? lets say for a basically new watch... just curious
What watch? I got a GMT Pepsi that for a million bucks is not available new. Price was absolutely worth it! Buy what you like. Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Most watches depreciate substantially from new price, but there are some that hold or increase in value as they age due to desirability. I recently bought a mint condition 20 year old Girard Perregaux 8020 for less than 25% of the original MSRP. It is a 38mm, which is small by current fashion, PG is an obscure brand (13,000 pieces a year), and it is a logo watch (Ferrari) so has a much smaller potential customer base. All these factors add to the substantial discounting in the marketplace. Rolex (6 million pieces a year) has its whole other ecosystem and others will have to comment. Despite the volume, I doubt many Rolexes depreciate to 25% of their original selling price.
I'm specifically looking at the submariner... 16610 Black with date. List is about $8.5K seems to save 1-2K, you don't really get a warranty If they need service, your savings goes out the window. just curious... looking for real world examples of what people have bought.
buying from bernardwatch. on new you can expect to save 15-20% on new rolexes, plus another 8% if in nys , no sales tax shipping from texas. so basically on a new two tone sub from tornneu price 13.5k, plus 8.75 sales tax, so that would make it almost 15k. bernard watch price 11k out the door. and if used maybe another 2k off. example on other brands. went to local watch store in LI, looking at a panerai submersible. their price was 8k plus tax. so about 8700 out the door. bernard watch price 6800. brand new. just to give you a good idea of what you can expect to save.
Buy from me and you’ll get a better price than all other sources above. I have plenty of Rolex timepieces. About to list a few in the Ferrari forums as I’m new to this forum. I’m bigger on the watch forums. Kind regards - Cal Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ive been looking for another watch and am keen on the panerai Pam 88. Seems I can buy used in the low 4k range. My concern after reading about the watch is that using an aftermarket movement I am essentially paying 4k for the name and case. they seem to have been building cheaper versions of them self to sell more watches. Maybe that information is incorrect and I would love to stand corrected as I love the look of that watch. My current daily is a Explorer II which I love.
Gawd. I accidentally slipped the decimal. Sorry. I hate being inaccurate. Its 600,000 pieces per year. I got the annual production numbers from this document, which strikes me as being quite well researched: Estimated watches sold and estimated turnover of the major watch brands in Switzerland and Germany (09.06.2013)
OK, a bit pedantic, but for accuracy: That doc actually doesn't seem that well researched because in 2012 Rolex received nearly 800,000 COSC certificates alone. Rolex does not release sales figures, but most estimates are that Rolex COSC watches are 80-90% of their total production. From that it's pretty safe to estimate that Rolex production is consistently in the neighborhood of 1 million watches per year.
