So sorry to hear this. It is sad that the final year of his life was so disappointing given all the problems with his big garage dream.
Mitchell sure was a unique character. Only person I know that had a human skeleton in his living room; I'm talking about a real human skeleton not a plastic imitation. He named him Uncle Charlie. His idea of car collecting was very different from most of us .... but he sure enjoyed doing it. May you rest in peace. Ivan
Mitchell attended Le Belle Macchine d'Italia in the Pocono mountains a couple of times. That's where I first met him. The last time I saw him was in Monterey in 2015. There's another unique car collector from upstate NY who used to come to that show almost every year. Often the cars were not show quality but ran well and they were always interesting. He purportedly had quite a few and we developed a humorous schtick of exchanging barbs all during the event. It's people such as these who in my view fill out the tableau of the car collecting hobby so nicely and in such a unique manner. It's very easy to find people with gobs of money and perfect cars but much harder to find interesting souls such as these. It's such a small community at times. I've bumped into fellow enthusiasts in Europe and the USA usually at car events. What a coinkidink!
For those interested in attending the service on Nov 21st, here is Mitchell's obituary: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/kentucky/obituary.aspx?n=mitchell-barnes&pid=187286683&fhid=32353
Very sad to hear! Mitchell and I compared lots of notes and tips on the Quattroporte III over the years. He will be missed. Mike
I never met "bundas" but I always enjoyed reading his posts. first in the 550 and Maserati forums, then everywhere else. he was certainly one of the most "standout" members here in my experience. May you rest in peace Mitch... You will be missed..
Mitchell was on my 2013 Ca Guy Tour. He was spending money and enjoying life to the fullest checking off the bucket list of things to do before he "shuffled off this mortal coil" I recall him coming back to the hotel with bags of designer name clothes and shoes. He was very proud to inform us that he had been fitted for a Brioni Suit in Milano. Qurky, yes, but with a great sense of humor. Very likable yet difficult all at once. A real character who played his part. Here are some photos I took of Mitchell while on the tour. That him in the red Italdesign Parcour, and top right in the stair photo and on the left at the Panini Museum with Matteo Panini. RIP Mitchell Ciao, FGM

RIP Bundas.. sad that he passed. Didn't know him personally, but his character and willingness to embrace all manner of interesting projects was to be envied. Definitely not someone whose posts I'll forget any time soon.
