I need to replace my battery and alternator in my 348. I currently have a Ultima battery and a Delco alternator.

I was told by a certified Ferrari mechanic that the Ultima is too slow at recharging and that I should be using a regular battery. And the Delco is not a good alternator for the 348. That's why the battery dies a lot and always needs to be on a charger. Unfortunately, he didn't tell me what brands I should be using.

So.... what are you guys using for your battery and alternator?

The factory upgraded the 348 alternator two times as follows:

    139421 105A DELCO (1st, early)
    155785 105A NIPPONDENSO
    156235 140A NIPPONDENSO

The last one is, of course, the best. It has Denso number 101211-7580 on its label/sticker. It comes on Ebay from time to time.

I have read that the Honda Acura Denso alternator fits the 348 but I don't know what amperes it provides. It's a Nippondenso 1-1410-01ND or 100211-617, Honda part number 31100PY3013.

The best battery? Depends on what you are prepared to spend for it. I installed this one:

The highest amperage output Nippon Denso alternator upgrade is the way to go. Also make sure that the alternator ground strap update has been installed.
Any of the good AGM batteries should work just fine, your Ultima battery (if it is ok, should work well). I like Odyssey batteries as well

I have a Braille also. I went AGM with a lightweight version. Dropped 20 + pounds & use a battery tender all the time. Your mouse seat belts could be a source of alternator/battery issues (one of the reasons I use the tender when parked in the garage).

Holy crap ! That much for a battery?

And the Acura alternator DOES NOT fit the 348. Too big.

The bigger factory 348 Denso (140A) comes with different brackets (lower and upper). They look very similar to the brackets for the 105A Denso but are "shorter" to compensate for the bigger alternator body (I could verify this because I bought and installed a new complete factory alternator upgrade kit to 140A Denso). Perhaps the Acura alternator also needs these different brackets? I don't think it is bigger than the 348 factory 140A Denso because this thing is big.

My 348 came from the factory with a 105A Denso which was replaced (bolt on) by the PO with the same size Denso from another car (don't know which) but certainly not original 348 105A Denso as the connection to the regulator was modified (different plug).

Looks like Racambi sells the 156235 140A NIPPONDENSO alternator. $1000!

Do F-Chaters get a discount with Racambi?

I have a 1994 348, the last of the series. My Nippodenso alternator went out, I bought an Acura Nippon one, IT DOES NOT FIT, and it comes with a 4 pin connector instead of a 3 pin connector. I had mine rebuilt, done.
