Was something going on at The Guild in Bradford today? Was driving by and saw about a dozen Ferraris in the parking lot, along with some other cars. Cruise or meetup?

Found myself following a red Mondial t today at around 11:00 AM on 401 Eastbound near Kingston, Ontario. But driving my Chevy Suburban, I could not quite overtake it.

Please tell me that is an old photo. The restoration of that car was started SO long ago that if it was delivered today makes the news somewhat comical yet somehow very much believable. Either way it was a beautiful day for a drive.

You're a funny guy. I remember when you started your restoration and it was supposed to take a year, what was it 3 or 4 years later and it was finally done.
If memeory severs correctly you had some mechanical problem down in Virginia at the Big Reveal.

    No, unfortunately not mine.

Correct, it's a very nice color in the flesh. Considering how many 308s are red, it's very special to see colors like this.

Nice try but you are rather short of the mark. My one year restoration did drag to 3.5 years. This of course includes the almost 9 months wasted at the 'pro restoration shop' for paint and body plus all the wonderful corrective work RM (the real pros) had to carry out to fix their mess. As for Virginia the car ran perfectly there (which is more than I could say of the weather) so your memory does not serve correctly.

The fundamental difference is that my restoration was a hobby project carried out primarily by my dad, brother, and I in our spare time on evenings and weekends. During that time we ran our business, took care of day to day life, and ran multiple championship winning race car efforts, all while completing an FCA 100 point scoring Ferrari Dino restoration. All in all not bad if I do say so myself.

From my understanding the owner of the gold 308 has had that car full time in restoration at a 'professional' 308 specialist shop for somewhere in the 5-6 year range. In that time the 308 market has gone through a complete and significant up and down cycle, RM has churned out multiple Pebble Beach class and best of show cars (infinitely more complex than a 308) from scratch mind you, and we have logged over 8K of driving in the Dino.

I know first hand what it takes to restore a car and I also know what can be achieved in a 40 hour work week by even a semi-competent restorer. To be honest I thought this 308 was on the road and finished YEARS AGO so my comment comes from pure shock and disbelief that it was only delivered today. I do not think I am alone in questioning why a restoration being carried out by a restoration shop should take over 5 years.

On another subject oro is indeed an interesting color for a 308 that you do not see every day and I sincerely hope that the owner is good and happy with his freshly restored car. I for one hope to see it on the road being enjoyed.

My iPhone took a more clear pic inside of the color. It looks more deep in color indoors than outside in the sunlight. The brown rugs give it a nice accent over all with the tan seats.

Amazing color when comparing to today's cars, this color wouldn't look as appealing on the body styles of today's car, but on the older cars the lines and design seem more crisp than traditional red.

I am the proud owner of the car. I am very happy with the result, work and effort that the shop put into my car. The car drives like a dream. The 308 is truly a work of art.

The restoration did take 5 years as per your memory and I was PERFECTLY FINE with this.
I don't wish to go into specifics and reasons why it took so long and don't understand why you are concerned about this timeline.

According to your threads and postings you spent 7000 hours on your car. I applaud your family for finding the spare time to restore your Dino.

When I bought the car it was Red but the restoration shop told me chance are the car did not come out of the factory resale red. Sure enough they were correct. The car was Oro Chiaro. I thought it would be cool to paint it the way it came out of the factory and it was a rare colour for 308's.

Did anyone go to Cobble Beach this year? I planned to go all summer, but in the end missed it.
    How was it?

It was very enjoyable with a great line up of classic cars from different eras and regions, however, since it was my first time it’s hard to compare to previous years. My favourite cars were an original Ford GT40, Lamborghini Miura SV, Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Coupe, Maserati Khamsin, Marcos, Bruce McLaren’s 1961 Cooper T55 F1 car. Can you share a picture or two of the Ferrari Daytona 365 GTB/4 coupe?

Clyde thanks for the pictures of that 1971 Daytona coupe. Is that 14385 returned to it's former glory? Very neat that the original owner was able to register a brand new euro spec 365 GTB/4 in Ontario back then. All the Canadian version like Yonge Steeles Motors plus the Quebec dealer Daytona models sold were USA spec cars. The rules were much more liberal in those days compared to all the modifications Americans had to have done to register a Boxer for example. Canada got the euro spec 512 Boxer models new!
