article says the accident at LM24, which wrote off a chassis, wasn't part of the decision. honestly I'm amazed Risi stuck it out (and was so competitive) as a privateer in a full factory class. a 488 GT3 with a compliment of paying gentlemen drivers makes much more sense for a dealer.... that said, I'll miss having a Ferrari in GTLM.
I know what it cost, at the time, to compete in GrandAm in a 360GT for the season. ALMS was more. And, the costs have only gone up since then. So, I'm always left scratching my head to figure out how Risi has come up with the funds to keep going as long as it has. Regardless, Risi has always been competitive, so I hope they'll continue to fly the Scuderia's flag in anger. CW
Yeah it says that. But also the accidents at COTA and Long Beach. I have trouble believing that wasn't part of this decision. Hopefully they reconsider and stay.
A very sad news. Is expected to be passed to GT3, either in GTD IMSA or in PWC. Risi entered 2 GT3 for the next Crevetic 24 hours of COTA in november. 24H SERIES 24H COTA USA 2017
Bad luck for Risi. A shame what happened at LM. We will not see Fisichella back in the Risi car either...just my guess. Probably the end of the 488 Ferrari GTLM era?
I would not call Mr. Risi a "privateer", but he styles his team that way. He is a Factory dealership with tons of South American money channeling thru.... Like my early team, I learned if you field two cars, they could always crash into EACH OTHER, which actually happened, with my guys, once...
Thanks Tom....I think Mr. Risi is a VERY good poker player! LOL! I once rode in an elevator with him, a very nice and gracious man....
Risi hace 2 488 GT3, 1 with PWC livery and the other with GTD IMSA livery. Does anyone know when they are returning? https://scontent.fsst1-2.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/fr/cp0/e15/q65/20430151_1369069583212394_7800872911089340819_n.jpg?efg=eyJpIjoidCJ9&oh=dbc2d53ea7be212e73082fe117b5bb1b&oe=59FE906B
Hopefully soon! A Risi in PWC would be fantastic. The next race is in two weeks (Utah), so that's cutting it close! Whose Facebook page posted this photo, btw?
I thought I had heard that they would be back in IMSA by VIR, but I can't find any confirmation of that.
Does anyone know the chassis number of the Risi car that was totaled at Le Mans? Was it also owned by a collector?
Risi return to GTLM in Virginia and will be in the rest of the season. Risi to Make GTLM Return at VIR, Complete Season - Sportscar365
Did anyone see the Weather Tech race today? Risi was there and had a great race. Worth watching on replay.
Don't know. They did say that some stayed behind to move cars. Considering their location is close to the Galleria I would imagine they might have some water to deal with.
Sportscar365 talk about that the Ferrari 488 GTE is believed to be the only GTE-spec car to have received an update for next year. All GTLM cars will be in Daytona during the two-day test on Dec. 5-6, there we could see the Risi 488 with the updates.
