Again, the entire production reserved for 918 owners so they can flip it again and double their $$$. If you did not spend $800k on a 918 when it was introduced, any special production Porsche is verboten for you (10 years).
I don't think anybody knows about production numbers yet. I know I am first on my dealers list for one of these cars. At first, they told me I would probably not get one because the 918 owners would take them. However, with Porsche's new rules, Porsche is insisting on a one-year no flip as oppose To only a six-month no flip. Given this, I think some of the 918 owners may pass. We shall see.
I don't think they can afford to have another 911R debacle. I feel Porsche knew their customers would eventually forgive and forget when the GT3 manual was revealed. There is no such consolation prize for the GT2 RS. They'll probably just price it high to keep it exclusive through natural supply/demand forces and also maximize profits (rather than share with speculators).
Agreed. As I recall, the 997 GT2 did not fly out the door and was about 250K. Took it a few years to get to big premiums as did all the 997 GT cars.
The Fort Worth dealer was begging me to buy their second of two GT2 RS at a discount. $250K for a 911 super turbo ? Are you nutz ? I was going to be smart and wait till it depreciated. DOH ! Now they are asking 450K ?!?!? I did snag a 996 GT2 about two years ago and still have it. Have to say I didn't see this Brand new Porsche speculation coming. The world has gone Bizarro. I'll bet dollars to doughnuts the new GT2 RS whacks the $$$ floor under the 997 GT2 RS Hope the tremors don't go to the 996... We'll see. I'd still like to pick up a boring old 997 GT2 if they drop some.
Expected over $300k. Not going to affect the 997 GT2RS prices, that car has something the new one does not.
