An older school, 81 R100RT. 'She is who shall be nameless' is happy I will be moving the old girl out of the house and into the garage. Tuned up two weeks ago, changed all the fluids. Greasing the splines was a real pain, but good for another two years. Broke ribs 3 weeks ago falling off a ladder at cottage, so another 2 weeks and I should be good to get in the first ride of the season. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Friggen I phone....even with locking rotation it still flips the image....I cannot acknowledge user issue!
Reminiscing about a lost love. Here she is in the December sun of 2007. . Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sold off all my street bikes, and took last year off from riding on the street. Picked this up about two months ago. My girlfriend hates normal 2up riding, but loves this silly thing. We've gone on a few adventures with it already, and plan to travel all summer with it. Scooped up two older Ducati too, but nothing exciting. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here's my 1098R in the garage. I have really enjoyed getting back into motorcycling. I am looking at possibly adding a Superleggera. Although I might go backwards and do a 996R or 998R. Hard to know. Image Unavailable, Please Login
So much awesome. I am dying for another Duc, but other priorities take precedent. Please post pics and vids of whatever you acquire. Mark
I used to have a 916. I wouldn't do another unless it was a 916 SP or something but the 996R and 998R are better bikes in so many ways. I will. I'm on the hunt now and have found some good bikes. It's really hard to find the right complement to a proper homologation bike. I really think it's the 996R/998R or Superleggera. The nice thing about the Superleggera is that I think that panigale platform is really street bike first and race bike second which stinks from a heritage perspective but nice from having something more road oriented. And the 1098R was so winning in WSBK it's not like if I don't have that box checked anyway.
Truth is I probably couldn't make it two blocks on any of these bikes. My back can't do what it used to do. But I have always thought the 916 was the best looking of the bunch.
The 916, 996 and 998 essentially look identical except for some minor changes to things like the wheels and, in the case of the 996R and 998 (and 998r), the side fairings are smooth with the vents in different places. Most people never even notice the differences.
Dale, I've ridden those things and it makes me feel like an NBA player riding a scooter built for a jockey. You must be 4 or more inches taller than me. I have always liked Ducs but a client left me with his 916 once. All I could think of was "how long until I can get off". Same when I rode my old bosses MV F4. Give me a Hypermotard or a Multi. I rode old 750 and 900 Sports and do not recall feeling like they were so small.
So once again, FerrariChat comes through. I put a deposit on Ducati 1199 Superleggera #213 from Fchat sponsor Southlake Motorcars and it will be coming home to Colorado. I had a very nice conversation with the owner (thanks to Rob for putting us in touch!) and we struck a deal in one minute. http://www.southlakemotorcars.com/web/vehicle_photos/25263210/
