I dunno, John. That's a pretty bold pick... A voice keeps telling me it is Columbus' year. Looking at stats between Pitts and Cols they are so close. Of course Pitts on experience, Sindy Crosby, the return of Malkin, returns of Kunitz and Hagelin soon, power play percentage (23.1 %), goals for this season (278), and goals for per game at 3.39. Flipside, CBJ have Bobrovski (is there any other more fun Russian name to speak out loud and roll your "R's"?), Atkinson, and Tortorella. Bobrovski does not have a lot of playoff experience (2014 vs. Penguins) and did not fare well then. If CBJ can stay out of the penalty box and snatch game one at Pitts to begin a roll, they could go places. I'm thinking just like you, Mike. Can't wait for the smorgasbord of games to take in tomorrow evening!
Yeah, probably a little optimistic, but in the end I like Pittsburgh's experience. I'm not holding my breath regarding a long playoff season for the Pens without Letang.
Habs fan. Out in second round. Could Toronto pull off an Upset? If Caps beat them, they will meet Chicago in the cup. Dave
What the h*ck it's all good. Here I am thinking: Pitts Penguins in 7 Wash Caps in 5 Montr Cdns in 6 Bost Bruins in 7 ++++++++++++++++++ MN Wild in 6 Chicago BH in 6 Ana Ducks in 5 S J Sharks in 7 ____________________ Best for hockey, -neal
Neal, you are a smart hockey fan, and know that stats do not matter once the playoffs start. It's a completely different game. Pitt is full of experienced veterans that know how to win and what it takes in the playoffs.
Mike...I agree with the experience factor and let's remember that goes for the coaching staff as well. I think you have to give the Habs an edge in that department; and the Caps as well. I still think it's the Cap's Cup to lose.
For certain you are right, Mike, but I had to review the Blue Jackets vs. Penguins stats to pull me back from the brink of picking Columbus Blue Jackets to win the series... and then the experience realization made the choice clearer for me. So five more hours to wait for the openers. Think I'll go play a few holes of golf!
Can't wait. Oilers in 5 baby I hope the Capitals absolutely embarrass the Leafs. Calgary/Anaheim will be a rough series. Lots of animosity between those two clubs. I hope they kick the **** out of each other so Edmonton has a beat up team in the 2nd round. Someone needs to change the title of this thread.
My picks for rounds one below. Penguins in 6 Capitals in 6 Canadiens in 5 Bruins in 7 +++++++++++ Wild in 5 Blackhawks in 7 Ducks in 5 Oilers in 7
I hope the best for the oilers as i dont see Calgary getting past the Ducks. Gonna cheer on the oilers with my brother thats for sute.
Not that I want it to happen. That said, last night was the end of a pilgrimage. I wish another Canadian team was the first to win, but... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Bit late, but round 1 take: Penguins in 5 Capitals in 5 Rangers in 6 Bruins in 6 - Blues in 6 Blackhawks in 6 Ducks in 6 Sharks in 7
BIG day today, four games on the telly starting at 3 PM est. How's about the Blues returning home from Minnie w/a 2-zip series lead? " " " Predators clipping the Black Hawks twice, yesterday blanking them 5-0!?! Whooo-hoo it's the playoffs! P.S. Will someone please shut Pierre ("the drone") McGuire up? So happy I get CBC by old-fashioned rooftop antenna (out of Windsor, ONT) so I can flip over there and ditch the drone.
What a couple of games between Caps and Leafs! Last night was stressful but ended up just fine. It's going to be electric in Toronto when they come home tied 1-1. Very surprised at the Blue's (now up 3-0) and the Predators simply destroying Chicago. Excited for the Montreal and Edmonton game today. Go Habs and Go Oilers!!!
Holy sh*t - four games tonight and four overtimes! Nashville comes back from being down and wins in overtime for a 3-zip stranglehold on the Black Hawks. Ducks come back from being down for an overtime win at Calgary less than ten minutes after the end of Nashville-Chicago.
