Greetings all, I was reading over in the 355 thread that a gentleman couldn't wrap his 355 fully with clear, because the didn't make sheets big enough to cover the roof and pillars, which would need to be one piece. Has anyone seen a wrapped TR or 512TR? Can it be done? My reason for asking is twofold - if I wanted to protective wrap the car, or I'm looking at a black car right now, and I'd love to wrap it red until I get a red car (long story). Thanks, gents. As well, I'll be posting up a thread about my search tomorrow! -Matt
I'd imagine it can be done. I know here in Denver there's obly one shop who will do a porsche Macan hood because of how wide it is and how much the film needs to be stretched. Basically is comes down to installer skill.
Yeah it can be wrapped... ask me how I know... Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes it can be wrapped no problem. Just need to find a qualified shop and be prepared to pay$5k +. Im in Los Angeles so there are a couple of places that do good work but vary in price.
I just wrapped my 512 TR completely with film. Even including the louvers on top of engine compartment and also the fins on this side all fins were taken off and covered. Cant even tell it's been covered with film, and easy to take care of now. I Just won second place trophy at La Jolla concourse d'elegance with the car. The trick is finding somebody that's the best to apply it.
The problem is not getting a wrap ON, the problem starts getting it OFF ! Seen some very nasty removals, the simple Italian paint falls off in patches... You now have a nice spray job ... And yes, of course, ... many did not have any problem .... Don't think about it please ... its a Ferrari and not a Viper ...
I would not wrap a Testarossa unless I'm ready for a full body respray. The 80's Ferrari paint process was sketchy to begin with let alone having to remove a sun baked wrap off of it.
LOL, it's your car, do whatever you want with it. You don't have to explain anything to anyone. It is a possession, not an extension of your penis.
The main reasons were for paint protection, and slightly less so, colour change to red (for now). Car is currently black, might just leave it until I get a red car as well. Thanks gents!
I learned my lesson... I applied some electrical tape to my Porsche 930 hood to hold some protective paper over it as I sanded some other body parts... Went to pull it off 2 weeks later, and it pulled off the clear coat... PO painted the car to a good standard several years prior... Covering a testarossa carries some risk... Not sure I would do it...
